How to balance the horse archer

Please don’t nerf horse archers just bring mangudai up to their level. Thank you.

So you think it’s balanced the way it is? Having generally zero counter especially by Imperial upgrades?

Rus horse archers need a nerf to their movement speed as it is heavy horse archer (as it has higher armour)

Mangudai is too easy to counter with ranged units. They have the shortest range in the game of all ranged units. Even grenadiers throw bombs further than horse archers (mangudai)… And too expensive compare to the Rus horse archer.

The horseman should be buffed seperatly. They are not trading good vs archers atm what they real porpuse should be espacialy when the archer player gets a critical mass to oneshot the horseman.

A Horsearcher bugfix (nerf) first and maybe after 2 weeks of observation a cost adjustment but they have to start quick.
Horsearchers are one of the main points that rus is so dominating atm (with mongols ofc).

HA are bugged so reducing their RoF is not a nerf but a bug fix :slight_smile:

horse archers are super bugged atm (particularly the incendiary arrows tech). Bringing them to the intended level as shown in the tooltips would make the unit very reasonable.

Horsemen are the counter to all archer units, that includes horse archers. I agree that they are defo not doing their job really well

Horseman survivability against ranged attack is too bad to be a viable counter to Horse Archer. Even better, just add in a few Spearmen and they are dead.

The tooltip on the Horse archer states the unit is weak to range units? It has the speed of a scout and the 4.5 tile range (standard range has 5 range…); THEN they get an upgrade that increases that range to 6.5 (1.5 MORE range than a standard range unit); ALSO it has 2 health buffs (boyar and biology).

If this unit is gonna have a high base damage and only cost 120 resources, and has 1.62 tile/s speed, and up to 6.5 range, how is anything but charging knights (and the rare completely upgraded camel riders lol) supposed to counter this unit?

LASTLY there is a vast inconsistency with how we treating these cavalry range units:
Horse archer and Tower Elephant are the only two viable cavalry range units. Both are versatile and potentially overpowering. The horse archer is the only unit that gets most (if not all) the possible upgrades available to it.
