Hunting: The best compromise

Hello,

About hunting I have an idea who will please everyone !

Hunting is a much-appreciated mechanic that was, in its original form, both very simple and very realistic. Military units do not hunt because their strategies and weapons are different. An animal must be killed properly for its meat to be edible; for instance, if the digestive system is pierced, the meat becomes non-consumable. Therefore, only hunters can correctly kill animals for its meat.

Horses are often used in hunting for driven hunts or hunting with hounds. The horses themselves never do the hunting; they guide the hunters or drive the game.

It was very frustrating for casual players who struggled to correctly lure animals. The introduction of a system where any kill renders the meat edible fixed this, but it also created new problems. Now, you can no longer attack in the Dark Age to disrupt an enemy’s hunt by killing their animals improperly. You also can’t kill beasts that are in your path, because their carcasses will then become an even bigger obstruction.

The solution would be that only economic units and buildings can harvest animals correctly. This way, only Villagers, Town Centers, and Fortified Churches would be able to properly hunt game.

Also it could be great that handcart increase gathering speed of 50%. Like this there is a reward to hunt in castle age or imp.

Best regards,
