I plan to leave this game for a while until the game requires building walls

Whether it’s Age of Empires 1, Age of Empires 2, Age of Empires 4. I need city construction, simulation management, attack and destruction, conquest, and battlefield turbulence.
We all know the history of the game Age of Empires. I hope the official website can promote the features of this game. I think Age of Empires 4 has deviated somewhat.
The attacking side is facing difficulties, but they also accuse the city walls of being too cheap. This has made it further difficult to construct the city wall at present. The essence of the game has faded away and is gradually leaning towards Starcraft 2 and Company Of heroes.
Why do we blame the cheapness of the city walls? But I never thought about the wrong mechanism of attacking weapons.
We know that Age 3 is the Castle Age. But the game has deviated from history. Still in the dark age, or rather nomadic. Cavalry is running around everywhere, is it only knights who are the best means of attack? At present, it is also the cheapest and most profitable means. Because the city walls are difficult to form a city.
Not just for the 9th season. The changes of Springalds and Culverins are the greatest. From now on, the cumbersome city walls can be effectively destroyed (I hope to become stronger enough to advance quickly, and according to the weapons of historical era 4, the city walls of era 3 can be easily destroyed). But we should also encourage the construction of effective city walls. Especially, players should be encouraged to build beautiful cities.
Games have always been:Defeating opponents on the battlefield is not the best way to win the game. This approach is often incorrect. But using knights to kill villagers.

The real reason is that ML cannot defeat AVELY on the front battlefield, not that siege weapons cannot destroy city walls.

Building walls like this is very ugly.
I have a very good idea. The wall can be doubled in width to accommodate more people (we can make it twice as thick after the city wall is built). But the city walls cannot be built so close together.
Encourage archers to stand on the city wall, but refuse to burden the city wall.
If you have knights, opponents will be unable to build walls. And you will be able to easily build the city wall yourself.

I don’t play 1v1 but I’ve noticed when seeing 1v1 matches just how small the 1v1 maps are and I can easily imagine walls being much more oppressive on a small map like that. It would only take a small amount of wall to limit an area.

On bigger games it is easier to move around defences which might go some way to explain why theres so many different opinions about walls and how strong they should be. I dunno just a thought.

One thing I dont understand is why they haven’t tried to give walls and their towers more scaling through the game. Walls and towers could get upgrades in Age 3 and 4 so if walls are too strong or weak in certain parts of the game they could be balanced seperately. Age 2 gave walls an upgrade in the Castle Age for example
