I really wonder why AOE3 fans are so poor

The ESOC tournament prize pool is just 750 dollars?
I usually think our Chinese comunity is poor. We hold several tournaments every year, but the prize pools are often more than 750 dollars.
I don’t know why 20 years passed, we can’t find a single one rich man play AOE3 and donate to hold a big tournament.

I could be wrong here, but I have been told that the original AoE3 pro players were a divided group. Lots of internal fighting. And so the pro scene suffered for it. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I don’t know for sure, but it’s also a little bit of why we don’t get to go to redbull wololo.

Even without that we wouldn’t be included in redbull.

Age of Empires 3 doesn’t have a harmonious and appropriate player base, and you can even happened community conflict at the Microsoft-funded tournaments that follow the release of the Mediterranean dlc. What does Age of Empires III have to offer? I don’t think it will bring anything, remember, the game is now free to play, even so, it still can’t compete with the Empire series of existing games (except aoe1)

I mean yeah, what of it. Not every game needs to be a huge Esports event.

Complaining that the player base doesn’t have whales that throw insane amounts of money into the game is… certainly something new.

The game is not free to play. That is basically a demo.

We have a company who pretend it never exists.

We have the fans of this so called “series” who are enjoying the prosperity of the “series”, know little about AOE3 but never lack the incentive to teach AOE3 players what to do.

Then we have the biiig people with influence in AOE3 who are more enthusiastic in hating each other.

What else can I say? I’d say it’s a perfect match.

It has a lot to offer honestly.

Just gameplay wise it’s much more diverse than any other Age game. But you need to actually give it a shot to see that.

But we all know that deep gameplay alone can’t bring tons of players.

Also what is popular is not necessarily good.

As long as we get our dlc in the promised timeframe, thats all that matters.

We just need a small momentum to get out of this loop of negativity. Without official support and new players it will stay in self-cannibalism.

Just one screenshot or concept art can make a huge difference.

Two googled flags is all you can get.

How about flags?

20 flags…

Sorry, characters

Flags with a hidden puzzle.

At its most basic, I am also a player who has been playing since the launch of the Definitive Edition and before it was free. To be honest, I have been playing Age of Empires 4 all these years, and when I went deep into Age of Empires 4 and went back to Age of Empires 3,i found aoe3 gave me nothing but a variety of units. Its pathfinding and movement attack mechanics are so bad that it no longer suitable for my main game.

I don’t know what steam’s community center algorithm is, but if the total number of players shown above the community center includes the players of the free version, then a horizontal comparison shows that it obviously can’t get more love, at all levels, except its fans

What I mean is it’s not “free to play” at all. So it is not really gaining a lot of players who play it for free. It’s not some “advantage” over the other games, because you can only play 5% of the game “for free”. That is more of a means of advertising rather than a way to keep players playing.

Most of the remaining players have paid for it and are willing to pay anything else it offers.

Also, do you really think a game with 6k+ peak players (well above most games of its type) without any marketing for a year, which could potentially boost to 10k+ with one proper advertising last year, do not deserve any love?
COH3 which was the shiny new RTS game released two years ago, heavily marketed, only has 3k peak players and Relic is still actively updating it.
It will be VERY short sighted to ditch a game this big only because it is not as big as the biggest one.

The free version still has some players, even though its numbers may be small. In addition, Age of Empires 3 has not been updated in more than half a year, and the community environment is terrible. Plus, the production team never said they were going to drop the game, it’s obviously unrealistic to think that investing in a game is going to add more players to the already saturated aoe3 community, and I don’t think the game from two years ago, where ezad and aok had a heated confrontation during a timeout during the game, give good memory either.

Also, if a free version isn’t a good way to get players to learn about the game and get them to buy the original, maybe you can give devs some better ways to increase the number of player who continue to play this game for a long time

And, how I got out of this game that I’d devoted three years to, ever since that one came with sea dog(picture), and, remember, it wouldn’t be the age of empires without berries(picture). You can already see some problems.
