It feels a bit like the devs might think that, because there are already campaigns for the three Chinese civs, Wei, Shu, and Wu, there is no need to make a campaign for the Chinese civ itself. Perhaps they think that since the Danes, Saxons, and Varangians now have campaigns, that effectively means the Vikings already have one too. But I completely disagree with that idea. I would love to see a dedicated campaign for the Chinese, and I also want the Vikings to have a campaign of their own. And if the Vikings eventually come to represent Norway more specifically, then I think Norway should also get its own full-length campaign. ---

I still wonder if the Vikings will be playable in some Viking Sagas scenarios, as stated in early communication… ---

I don’t see the point of giving more campaigns to Vikings when civs like Turks, Magyars, Slavs, Mayans and Koreans (even Celts that isn’t the William Wallace tutorial) desperately need a campaign. Enough Viking content, We’re getting an entire DLC for them already! ---

Yes, all three campaigns can be played with the Vikings and their respective civilizations: Book 1: The Exiled Prince (Vikings and Varangians): Basically, Hardrada’s period of exile in Rus’ and Byzantium (1030-1042) Book 2: The Hard Ruler (Vikings and Danes): His return to Denmark and Norway (1046-1064) Book 3: The Last Viking (Vikings and Saxons): The invasion of England and the Battle of Stamford Bridge (basically Hastings, but as a Viking campaign and perspective) (1066) ---

Cosidering this DLC was the perfect opportunity to add a dedicated Viking campaign, the chances are really low now and if making some playable scenarios with Vikings in this new DLC is the reasoning to not develop a full campaign then we might not even get a Vlach civ to not take Magyars, Turks or Slavs “their campaign”. But who knows what could happen, maybe another VnV would solve that problem by adding even “more campaigns” to the game. Some people already consider the scenarios from that DLC campaigns for their respective civ, so less investment to please the customers. Problem solved, right? ---

The rise of the Rurik dynasty, culminating in the fragmentation of Rus’ after the death of Yaroslav the Wise, could serve as inspiration for Viking-Varangi-Slav themes in custom campaigns. ---

There is a strong tendency to view the medieval period of Japanese civilization as the Western Middle Ages, specifically the Azuchi-Momoyama era (the so-called era of Owari’s Oda Nobunaga, Hashiba’s Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Mikawa’s Tokugawa Ieyasu’s rule). However, the architectural style at this time was very different from the architectural style currently applied in AOE2, and in the case of Korean civilization, the issue of how to define “medieval” was a highly sensitive topic. Ultimately, the early medieval period of the state before the Joseon civilization (so-called Goryeo) was designated as the early medieval period, and the discussion led the way in defining the early modern period of the Joseon dynasty and dividing the late Joseon period into the early modern and the modern periods. Yet, there are still quite a few cases in some universities where the concepts of medieval and modern are completely denied and the dynastic period classification is used instead, and of course this era is also very different from the architectural style currently applied in AOE2. ---

Especially China, Japan, and Korea, even though their architectural styles may look similar at first glance, there are actually many differences when you look closely. ---

Because the term “Viking” belongs to a collective term for the Northern Germanic peoples who lived by sea in trade or plunder from the 8th to the 11th century, the number of countries and regions with Viking history and culture is quite large. In particular, even the Dein and Baran peoples, who belong to the Northern Germanic peoples discussed this time, share five modern states and regions with relevant histories and cultures. (Norwegians · Danes · Swedes · Icelanders · Faroese) If it’s a character that will be covered in this DLC.. Perhaps “Cnut the Great,” the fifth king of the Danish Knut dynasty, the third king of the Norse Knut dynasty, and the second king of the English Knut dynasty, might be good. ---

The East Asian set is overused and I and a lot of other people have asked for more sets for that region. Doesn’t change the fact the talk about arch sets has nothing to do with this specific topic. ---
