IamMagic: Biggest Issues With Retold

  • I agree everything Magic said about the map layout, but I don’t think the dev are able to fix this issue or understand what Magic is really talking about. I think the easiest and quickest way for them to solve the issue is to bring back the original ESO maps. They don’t need to recreate the wheel.
  • I don’t agree with Magic about the game interface, no one uses the global chat, it’s 2024. What needs to be done is to remove Quick Search so people can start hosting games titled 1800+++, noobs, etc. This allows us to create a community. For example, a new player starts playing Retold, he gets on the same time every day, joins my game, eventually I add him to my friends list.

There were about 100+ EE players that I played with on a daily basis, they weren’t on my friends list but we played together around the same time. I haven’t seen them on since retold was released.

I also disagree with Magic about gp’s, I think they were all nerfed since they could be reused. FW’s on EE was unstoppable but on Retold you need to have a bigger army to still win the battle. I think the reusing GP feature should be removed, bring back the original gp system.

@Magic the reason why your views are so low now is because the game is headed downhill pretty quickly.

-----What needs to be done QUICKLY to save the game…-----
-1st. Give loki heroes speed so I can start playing again. Major changes in a game will never be accepted.
-Remove Quick Search so people are forced to host games. We get to meet new people, we get to make new friends.
-Allow Steam to show us all the players we recently played with, this feature was disabled in Steam over layer.
-Make the maps smaller in TG, in 3v3 the map in insanely big.
-Bring back animal predators… this made the game refreshing and less dull.
-Each map should require a different playstyle. High hunt, low hunt, etc…
-Bring back the original maps and remove the boring maps (Giza, Elysium & Nile Shallows). They all look the same.
-gp’s shouldn’t be reuseable!!!
-There needs to be a way to block gp’s again.

The game is not going downhill.
Honestly besides the annoying bugs and desyncs, I think the most important thing with this game is it is NOT mainly considered a Multiplayer game. Devs have priotrized Single player content over multiplayer.
And by multiplayer I mean Team games not 1v1s. 1v1s in my opinion are too stressful for our generation and it will scare casuals away.

Please, people. Give coherent recomendations. They cant just make gp non-reusable because it qould mean balance eeeeeeeverything back.

The rest pf your points i aggree, man except rempving QM.

They need to force MAQ on ranked. If a pro doesnt like playing military autoqueue then he should go to aoe4. Aom always had AQ ranked or not. Most discord users i come across are playing QM because they dont want to play ranked with no military AQ :man_facepalming:t4:

Look at the player numbers it is going downhill…like it is not even half as popular as aoe3 de now, only a few months after release. Probably the biggest issue is that AoM doesn’t have the Asian market while aoe2,3,4 had.

I don’t agree with some points of IAMagic, the mythical units are not as strong as he says, in fact, they are much weaker. And the changes were actually good. As for the powers, it’s not possible to simply alter their reusability, what can be done is to make them a bit weaker with each use. AND NERF FIMBULWINTER ALREADY!

“quickly to save the game” man the game doesn’t need to bé save, it’s already a success and the nexts futurs DLC will bring lot of new players

Nerf filbumwinter? Lol… town center bells, select all villagers —> find shelter. If you cant do that or dont have the towers to do that, its skill issue my guy. Filbumwinter needs a buff actually.

And for the myth units, i think he means greek myth units. The classical one specially since you can win games rushing minotaurs/cyclops/centaurs unless its a loki/thor player.

People want a wonder age nerf, not anything that matters in most 1 v 1 games.

The problem with Fimbulwinter is in Team Games where it scales way more than any other god power, because it hits every one of your opponents just as hard as it hits your only opponent in a 1v1.

It would be interesting if Fimbulwinter in team games only affected the enemy player you fought the most during the match. One way or another, the problem called Fimbulwinter needs to be resolved soon.

Wait, what is so hard about selecting all your villagers and pressing find shelter? Its a genuine question because once me and my team we do that in 3v3, it feels like an heroic age gp in most cases.
