Why is the Siege Bonus not as defining?
This is actually the important and only useful change.
Terrible set of changes. Its not a civ with Arbalesters in tech tree. No bloodlines nerfs the entire game after castle age. With this change youâre making this civ so much more similar to celts. These changes exactly push towards a celt-like Hoang rush.
This is just not a 1v1 unit. Its too expensive and too late to get and is good only in some matchups.
Because Slavs play like a cav civ most of the game and a discount of 15% isnt good enough unless its for a main unit of a composition
I would like to buff their siege discount tbh
Tbh Celts are one of the most unique civs of the game gameplaywise so maybe having more civs like Celts isnt bad. We already have a lot of infantry/cav/siege civs
I still think that what he is doing wont make them very fun anyway
Ideally if infantry and feudal age were as important as cavalry, ranged and castle age, its good to have more civs like Celts. But unfortunately thatâs not the case and these maa friendly civs are very weak and fall behind.
Celts are very competitive
If youâre going to make it interesting rather than just stronger, give something new, even if itâs just a new bonus, like a cheap Monastery (even though this is reused and stale). Basically, having more new things makes the civ fresher. Otherwise, the practices discussed in this thread are basically just making existing bonuses stronger.
What is the âRaxâ?
Highly doubt devs will go back to 15% farmers. I think it is more likely that Polesâ farming will get nerfed.
True, but like I said I want 20% because I donât notice 15%. And you are removing bloodlines from a civ that does not get arbalest or bracer. Even if you give them thumb ring, slavs will have to tech out of xbow almost as soon as they get thumb ring.
They are not seen a lot in tournaments. Even considering ranked, celts are stacked with siege bonuses. Slav siege will never be as good.
Exactly! You canât buff Slavs farming bonus because is what made them OP before DE and pros were complaining back then: https://www.aoezone.net/threads/should-slavs-farming-get-a-slight-nerf.146288/#post-586396, the other farm bonuses (Aztecs carry capacity and Khmer farmers) had to be lowered to allow other civs to compete with them, now are in a fine spot, Hera even wants the 15% faster farming back but he at the same time forgot the Khmer farmer nerfs and the Poles Folwark is just too strong, instead of buffing it again and gain a boring and problematic civ, nerf Poles eco (take down crop rotation for them, so the eco is still strong in feudal and castle age but falls of hard in Imperial) so is more closer to other civs.
It is a verbal slang for Barracks.
Eh, not everything has to come in increments of 5%. In another thread Iâd already suggested improving the farming bonus to between 12 and 13%, which would be a worthwhile increase (20-30%) without being overpowered. Thatâs not entirely necessary though, since it buffs their already strong lategame.
But I think that expanding âFree Suppliesâ to Arson and Squires, a barracks/monastery discount, and/or especially improving the siege discount, are all good ideas. Their infantry and cav are good enough that they donât have to become âthe Goths of Siege,â but moving them a little more in that direction (20%) would be fine. IMO the Slavs are fairly interesting lategame, with a lot going on for them, but I guess I can see why people think theyâre âboringâ/slow in early-midgame. None of the bonuses are strong enough at that stage to have much of an impact on strategy.
I think they arent that uncommon. They just arent exceptional in most maps but they are still competitive
Im just saying that a new Celt-likw civ would be cooler than another cavalry-infantry-siege civ. Its not like if theres many competitive cavalry-infantry-siege civs either. Teutons are mostly just good on Arena, Slavs are mediocre in pretty much all settings outside deathmatch, Bulgarians are mostly just good on aggressive maps
And you can just buff the Slavic bonuses (particularly their siege discount) or even give them new bonuses if you want to make them competutive
Thatâs a strawman argument. No one said that.
Well we have Leitis. But we donât see them much. And Boyar being a generalist wonât help them. People will just use knight.
True but I donât want them to be a boring version of Celts either.
I kept BL now.
Not even my last proposition?
Bengalis got their scrapped UT for free. Getting abandoned bonus of Bohemians (Cheaper monastery) is not a bad bonus when you have all necessary monks techs.
Youâre right. I also doubt that. But Iâm very positive that removing BL as an exchange wonât make it OP.
Paired with faster producing Eagle and BL knight. Repeating myself wonât help I guess. Maybe you can check my last comment and see I have changed my mind?
Losing BloodLines is a severe enough nerf that I think it could justify moving the farming bonus back to 15% or even 20%.
Iâd find it very interesting. It might not be balanced. Itâs probably a not a good idea, unless we can accept it as a temporary (or experimental) balance patch.
knights play would be weaker without bloodlines, even with a 20% farming bonus. Your proposals to buff Boyars could maybe work to keep post-imp cav potential the same. I canât judge for sure whether a general buff for slavs coupled with BloodLines loss is appropriate.
what? Late castle age leitis spam is one of the more popular strategies with Lithuanians against all non-archer civs. Its no Mangudai or Conqs but Leitis is definitely good and quite usable, especially if you have 2+ relics.
If suppose Boyar had cost flipped it would be much more useful and fit the late castle age usage quite well. The farming bonus if buffed to 15% will also be able to support the high food cost for Detinet boyar spam.
And again you wonât see them as much as the top top unique units but still will be a much more useful unit for Slavs in 1v1.
What about instead of supplies free remove supplies.
Give them directly Militia line costs -15 or maybe even -20 food.
Yes itâs close to the Goths bonus, but there are differences, especially as Slavs donât have a unit like the Huskarl.
The difference would be that slavs could use this bonus for a better militia rush.
Something interesting that happens before ultra late game and thatâs not horribly expensive
I have some ideas to make their infantries somewhat intersting:
-All barrack units can build ram on open field (like in aoe4)
-Barracks can train in pack of 2 units (this is like in aoe3 where you can train in pack of 5)
-Infantries near barracks will automatically heal hp over time (Same heal rate for hindustaniâs unique building on trade cart)
Of course, not all ideas need to be all implemented but I would love them to make Slav infantries more fun to play.
