I don’t think its a good idea to make new civs using Dravidians blueprint.
Dravidians as a civ has a broken design abstraction. When you design a civ whose identity is, ‘they lack viable stable options’. It becomes a bigger problem when you don’t compensate with faster moving range options like cavalry archers or faster moving infantry options like Eagles. The identity should have been they have faster moving elephants or tanky death ball siege. On Arabia this flawed design becomes apparent pretty easily. They are currently bottom 3 in elo ranges where they have a decent pick rate. I chose arabia because it is the most played map and its not like they are top 3 on Arena either and these 2 maps account for 70 to 80% of games played.
Bengalis too suffer this problem due to lack of knights. Currently Bengalis overcome this by FC → Ratha. Dravidians also are in the same boat Fast castle gives them the 400 wood advantage. Its would be better if their unique tech ‘Medical corps’ is changed to help their archer mobility. It will make the civ more playable.
Medical Corps to be changes to “‘Equestrian archery’ - Archery range units move 10% faster”
The first weakness Dravidians had was against skirm + knight combos. It has still not been rectified. This can help them play against skirm pressure by running away and pressuring other areas of the map.‘monk + siege’ problem will still be there. But at least Elephant archers can play the role of a siege/knight resistant tanky unit.
If this change works to make the civ decent on Arabia, then a split can be made. However it shoud not end up with civs having black and white options. In terms of pop cuture as well, nothing in the Dravidians struck as something that new players could relate to as something they like. These choics cannot be repeated.
