Im happy with the new DLC tbh-specially when compared to V&v

Hello everyone¡
I´ve seen a lot of comments about boycott, not buying it etc, and in reddit even more.
Ironically when V&V came out, a true cashgrab, I remember seeing a lot of downvoting and a lot of attacks against anyone who said it was bad, specially in Reddit.
I decided to buy it, all that ´´support the devs´´ bla ba. It was a terrible dissapointment and I even got blocked on X by AOE because of my words against it. Anyway that was like 10-12 euros in my country. This is like 17-20. There I got 3 new scenarios, bunch of voice actors and ´´remakes´´of free stuff.
Here I´m getting 5 new civs, although as an SP Ill only use 3 and 3 new brand campaigns, so ofc I am really happy for the price.
Does it match the AOE historical frame? well its like 100 years before Huns but sure not exactly. Are they selling a Chronicle dlc along with a two civ mp dlc? Yeah most likely, but its way way way better than V&V.
I am sure it will get better reviews than that in spite of the ´´boycott´´and anger, which is ironically this time much more extended and no more ´´support the devs´´ ´´try it first´´etc. Kind of ironic but will see what reviews say, I´m confident there wont be nearly as bad as V&V and the sales will be better despite the outcry.

A part of the community plays the game for its depiction of history, campaigns and the architecture. So obviously those people would enjoy something like V&V (probably without knowing all of it is freely available as custom mods) but hate when there’s timeline inconsistencies like this upcoming DLC. The thing is coming up with good civ designs and units for the sake of fans like us is hard, but just using different names for the factions and unique units to match with history should be relatively easier. Maybe if they had just done that, the game could have hit the jackpot with this DLC’s sales. Its sad that they’re getting some backlash despite the good work they have done this time.

Compare any DLC barring iconpacks to V&V, it will be better. LoL

I don’t think they are comparable.

V&V is campaign only DLC and can be opted out. Sure there is some disingenuity in the messaging and marketing. Even though I wasn’t particularly impressed by V&V, I still got it on a Steam sale.

3K as it is right now I cannot get it even if it’s for free. I really want the two proper civs Jurchens and Khitans, but I cannot take 3 Kingdoms together wihout being able to opt out in the base game. Just shove the 3K as “mandatory” chronicles in one single DLC to my face I don’t care I’ll buy it.

for me this DLC is way worse than V&V. Decision to not buy V&V meant only i won’t get all achievements so this is worse.

i also dont really get the massive hated for the 3k, i get the reasons people dislike it but not even wanting free extra civs? i do think the 3 civs are a bit lazy in ut and civs bonuses though.

for those wanting to make it 2 purchases, id much rather to pay 1 for the price of 2 thanks. Heros are too early to say this early.

Honestly Victors and Vanquished was better.

It didn’t impact players who hated it.

Three Kingdom DLC impacts standard aoe2. Players who hate the idea of civs that aren’t even civs must endure them, which makes me consider V&V a better DLC.

Hatred has rotten your brain. Now you compare cheap resell with real hard work. V&V will always remain the worst DLC.
