I’m not sure that’s really a bug. Unchecking the box can’t have an instant effect, because it takes a while to deliver that message to the server. In the meantime, the server might start the game if everyone else is ready.

Maybe the button could have a clearer “pending” appearance after being clicked, until the new state is confirmed by the server.

Maybe the button could have a clearer “pending” appearance after being clicked

Yes, that’s one solution.

Other way to implement it – if match is being started, and there is a signal “the box was unchecked”, we can revert to the previous state “matchmaking” and cancel the match without any fees like “10-minutes matchmaking ban”.

What a user sees/feels:

I pressed “I’m NOT ready”. I waited 1-2 seconds, to be sure “the game understands me”. I’m afk for a while. I return back and what I see? the match was found and the game already finished. Frustration.

The correct behavior obviously: If checkbox is set to “I’m NOT ready”, game can NOT be started.

Hm if you see the ready checkbox then a match was already found and starts in 1 minute anyway, right? But yeah I can see how it’s frustrating.
