In Game Mod browser file sizes are wrong, and can’t sort by file size
Reproduction Steps:
go to in game mod browser
filter by taunts
sort by file size (results seem more random than sorted)
or
upload a mod that is 300mb
witness mod browser claim it is 200mb (perhaps the server compresses the files? still, this is irrelevant to the end users. it goes up as 300 mb, and it saves to disk as 300mb.)
Game indeed compresses mod files. Maybe both download size (compressed) and disk size (uncompressed) should be displayed? These might be quite different from each other.
@OwnAirplane3203@DodoNotDoDo i want to thank both of you for your helps (: now i just need to figure this mod thing… i still have no files in my folders
If you subscribe to a mod on the web site, it should auto download and install it in the game when you launch it. You should see them show up in your Installed Mods tab in game, or on the web. If it’s not working for you from the web for some reason, you might try subscribing directly in the game mod browser and see if you have better success there.
If neither is working, then my guess would be either something on your network/computer is blocking the connection to download them (virus scanner, firewall, etc.) or somehow your folder permissions have gotten messed up so the game doesn’t have permission to write the files to the mods folder.
I added the file size info to the detail page on the web site. It will only show both file size and disk size for those mods uploaded since I made the change. Difference is pretty minimal for a lot of mods, like .1mb difference. Could still be useful though. I’ve let the game team know the data is available now too.

Gotcha. I don’t know specifics, but often firewalls and virus scanners have options to let you allow/whitelist/ignore a specific application. If you’re able to find such settings, you could try adding the Age II DE exe to allow it to bypass your firewall and scanner. The virus scanner is riskier though if you install mods from other sites as it could allow unintended behavior.
Also be sure to check with the latest build as it has a huge number of bug fixes that may also address your problem.
