Independence Mode

Yes, it can be like the AoE 4 variants where you choose a revolution at the start of the game or later in the game. In Commerce, Fortresses, or Industrial Age, you choose a revolution and stay that way for the whole game (except for Mexico, which can return from a revolution, but in this case without the new revolutionary cards)…

Exactly. Honestly, I feel that this mode in particular will bring a lot of improvements to the base game; there’s a reason it was left out of the beta—it must be significant enough that the developers took such great care to ensure nothing regarding it leaked during the beta phase.

Maybe in this new mode we’ll be able to play as civilizations like Scotland, Austria, or Greece—I mean, anything can happen; honestly, it would be pretty interesting to see something like that.

Nah, I wouldn’t limit the new revolutions to this mode, but I would make them more decisive…

We dont know anything if there would be or wont revolutions.

My suggestion would be treat revolutions as variant civs with slightly different enabled bonus than base civs and some unique units/skins

That’s an excellent proposal; hopefully, we’ll end up with something like that in this new mode.

Yes, for now we have to assume that the revolutions will continue and that this will just be a mode without decks…

I wont assume nothing.

Would be very cool to be able to choose all the civs, including revolting ones, since beggining. They could reuse existing assets, but I fear that some civs would need voices.

For example, Romania would be a mix of Russian and Otto bonus/units with existing Romanian units

(Deleted message) confuse this with “Revolutions”. sorry.

Sorry, i confuse this with “Revolution”. Didnt, even know how to activate this mode.

I didn´t see any room in multiplayet that prub this mode.

This is a new mode that will be included in the upcoming Baltic DLC; we’ll be able to try it out on September 10th and finally find out what it’s all about. Right now, we’re just discussing ideas and suggestions for what this new mode might look like—if you have any ideas, feel free to share them here.

Independence Mode doesn’t feel like “new content” for those of us who play Age of Empires III as it is, because it actually removes a fundamental game mechanic.

This isn’t like the historical maps, where you have unique art and mechanics. More than a game mode, it’s a simplification, because you don’t have cards or the experience system.

For now, anything is possible, since we don’t really know what content this new mode will feature; the phrase “Rediscover your favorite civilizations in a new way with adjusted bonuses” could mean many things.

If it’s like how you play on other aoe games then it will just bring more players to the game which can only be good news, the fact is you don’t have to play that mode and I think it’s a welcome addition

Yes, if the new mode brings in new players from AoE 4, but mainly from the most critical ones of AoE 2, it’s worthy of applause with tears in their eyes and it will have been an excellent idea to include it…

I think people will give it a try, they could even allow you to use that mode in campaigns for an extra twist,

There are so many things you could do that should bring players in, I for one will use that mode

Yes, anyway, in the Blood campaign you play the first 3 scenarios without decks, so that’s possible…

Exactly my point, hopefully they listen to us
