In low skill, less micro intensive games, Goths are monsters with the militia line in the late game. What might seem like a little buff for the champion, will be a massive buff for the Goths. Infantry might be better off left as a mediocre unit because for some civs like the Goths this is like the cherry on top for them. You will need to nerf the Goths to counter the buff made to the militia, if they are buffed too much.
As you can seem 39 food and 13 gold per unit is no joke, along with their very fast creation speed.
I think it is relatively easy to balance goths by taking away champion upgrade in case 2HS/champion buff.

That would be so uncool. There would need to be some new way to counter infantry. Taking away the champion from the goths is horrible. The goth champion is iconic.

Dum question:
Why Goths don’t have “Infantry cost -25/-33/-40/-50% Food in D/F/C/I” ?
Would imo be a way more balanced Bonus, whilst keeping the total cost of the militia line almost the same.

Ideally speed of infantry should be buffed. That will make a big difference in mid and higher elos but won’t have impact at elos where Teutonic knights are popular. Other way is strengthening militia line against certain types of buildings which is also going to be less impactful for lower elo late game.
I don´t get why so many people concern about the possible OP potential of militia line among low elo players if the whole line recieve a proper buff.
I would prefer more infantry play in mid and hig elo, specially pro scene even if that results in goths wars in low elo matches.

The answer remains moving Squires to Feudal Age. That allows infantry to maneuver around archers and stay alive, allowing for a power spike on hitting castle age and justifying further infantry investment.
This would impact Goths comparatively little, because they can already produce infantry faster and are therefore less benefitted by having that pre-existing mass, plus they get a bigger infantry discount later on anyway.
Basically it just opens the door to expanding from a MAA rush into using infantry for the entire game.

I would move Arson to feudal too. Move supplies to castle age and make gambesons a stand-alone tech if needed.

Buff the Militia with new techs introduced in Barracks, and the Goths cannot access those techs.
The Goths Champions would not have any change, but the ones of other civs could get better.

If infantry get a general buff, then certain infantry civs (like Goths) may get a nerf to keep them from being overpowered. For example, if militia-line got a cost decrease, Goths would likely get a reduction to their cost discount (and possibly a cost reduction for Huskarls) to keep their specific costs roughly the same. It’s something they did with Malay discount when they reduced the cost of battle elephants.
Goths get a cheap price for the champions, but it takes a while to get there and they are missing the last armor upgrade (which is a rather important tech) and gambesons.
