Infantry, Cavalry and Archer line upgrades should affect Egyptian, Japanese and Aztec units

If you use Traitor (as Atlanteans) or the Communal Hearth (as Greeks) to convert Egyptian, Japanese or Aztec human units they don’t get upgrades like Greek, Norse, Atlantean and Chinese units would.

It would logically make sense that all Infantry, Cavalry and Archers are affected by the Line upgrades since those units clearly are those things and the upgrades work perfectly for the other civs that also have them too.

It would not impact the balance of anything else since Egyptians, Japanese and Aztecs don’t have those technologies but they also don’t have any means of converting units. Neither the the Norse that are missing the Archer line upgrades.

That would actually make a lot of sense. Never thought about it.

I don’t even know how this mechanic works. Doesn’t it copy the entire unit with all its upgrades?

Nope it does not. That is how it works in AoE2 but not in AoM/AoE3. The units don’t save their current state of upgrades.

They do get your blacksmith upgrades but they don’t get Medium/Heavy/Champion upgrades if they are Egyptian, Japanese or Aztec.

They also benefit from some of the minor god specific upgrades if they generally benefit all Infantry/Cavalry/Archers.
