Infinite Population Exploit (Isis, Set)

  • Game Version: 18.27100

  • Build Number: v.100.18.27100.0 (551388R)

  • Platform: Steam / Microsoft Store / Xbox

  • Operating System: Windows 11 / Windows 10 / Windows 8 / Windows 7 / Mac / Linux / PS5 / XBOX

Issue:

You can create an unlimited number of phoenixes, ignoring the population limit, using Rebirth, since while they are in egg form they don’t count towards the population and you can create new ones.

It gets even worse when the player manages to build a wonder—especially if it’s Isis and they use the exploit of blessing the wonder to get 2 favor per second plus the monuments, which I’ll explain later.

The player who does this doesn’t need to make an army and can just create phoenixes from many temples.

When they attack, they will destroy everything, since the enemy doesn’t have enough population to counter. I’ve seen players having three or four times the population they should have, and there’s nothing else like it in the game, making it very frustrating for other players who aren’t Isis/set (Thoth as minor god). This is even easier to do on closed maps like Ironwood or Great Wall in large groups or FFA. In addition to causing stability issues and lag in the game.

  1. I started with 25 phoenixes. I’m in a skirmish at standard speed for testing.
  2. I just deleted them so they are in egg form.
  3. New ones have already been created while the eggs haven’t revived yet.
  4. The newly created phoenixes and the ones that hatched have now appeared, making my total population 283/180.
5/6. This can be repeated over and over again to reach crazy values with no limit—767/180, for example.

Trigger Event:

When a Phoenix dies or is deleted and is in egg form, the performance and stability issues occur when a player accumulates many of them / flying around the map.

Repro Steps:

  1. Play as a god who has Thoth as a minor god (Isis, Set) and select him when advancing to the Mythic Age. (Any gamemode or editor)
  2. Build some temples and create Phoenixes from them until you reach your population limit.
  3. Delete your Phoenixes so they become eggs and can Rebirth later.
  4. Before they Rebirth, you need to create more Phoenixes. You can use Auto-Queue or do it manually.
  5. Just wait for them to be reborn and you’ll have an excess population.
  6. Repeat as many times as you want; it is easily replicable 100% of the time.

A simple fix would be for them to count as population while in egg form until they are eliminated.

If when a phoenix is deleted, it turns into an egg, then we have a real problem. The player just needs to create 20 phoenixes, delete them, create another 20, delete them, leave the 40 in egg form, and then create 20 more, resulting in 60 phoenixes above the population capacity.

As been a thing since launch, same idea with automaton by the way
Fix is simple spawn type should be killed instead of dead I guess

But let’s be honest, it can only happen in very casual games, you’re talking wonder age so it’s already games bound to be ridiculous - you talked about thot, itf you have wonder age you can spam meteor, no base, no phoenixes x)
