so finally is recognized the idea that the main revenue comes from e sport ad revenues from sponsor. Yeah I agree with the new direction (if they realise on time) but it will be enough time to fix it?
If the game is good enough people want to play it. They play it without getting payed for it. So the money for tournaments should be better spend for making the game better.
Pros leave the game as soon as they not get enough money from it. So they should not be the focus.
How do you spend the money for tournaments to make the game better if you cant use sponsorship money in development.
- They should spend more money in the game development i agree but they cant relocate sponsorship money except for other sponsorship events.
Here i agree as well. Pros left when performance was bad and went to other games to make money and vice versa.
- But as long as the pricemoney is tempting there are pros or people who thy to arive there.
Plus until Wololo is done nothing will change.
Cry out “wololo” and let slip the dogs of war! Yes, Red Bull Wololo is back for its sixth edition, bringing together the greatest Age of Empires players from around the world in a series of intense 1v1 battles, culminating in a historic clash at Castle Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany, from October 21-30.
- So alot of exposure for Ms being an on site tournament and not online.
- The qualifiers have all expensive trip payed so everybody tries every week to quallify.
- And because of that the direction will be the same atleast until the whole tournament is over.
you have them backwards. games always have to be fun to play otherwise people would not enjoy it, hence no viewership. the pros would not benefit playing a boring game with only handful of viewers, only when theres hype and competition.
the monetary tournament value is only there with money, after money is gone there are no one left except us who actually care about the game. how is this so hard to understand?
the only winners here are just ms from sponsor and pros who can finally capitalize their talent but they left behind nothing but a game in shambles
And i’m not arguing about this statement.
- i’m just pointing out why this direction wont change as long as there’s profit in it.
It today’s market voaltility investors want money now not potentially more later.
Same here, they live in the present. And the handfull of viewers give alot of money to the streamers. When there will be no profit they will move just like Hera did and alot others.
I too want alot of changes but for now theres nothing a handfull of users (an average of 20-30 per thread) that debate on this forum can do to change things.
- If people want changes the rating of the game neds to drop. Wich by the way is still in the “very positive” after 8 months.
Look at how the Battlefield 2042 comunity moved. That game is mostly negative to mixed.
yes by promoting the cancel of gamepass sales and tourney donation. They only speak in money language so we respond with the same way. and of course gatekeep aoe 4 players from our future aoe and current ones. they are the ones who promoted the quality of the current aoe 4
The most sponsorship money for tournaments comes from Microsoft. Microsoft also pays Relic for developing AOE4. So I think they should spend the money either for more development or various modding events like Aussie Drongo did with the generated maps.
I also fear the direction will not change ![]()
@thieftdp8498 Very good post. I agree.
