Since the game will come incomplete according to this news:
And there are also many complaints regarding other redundant aspects. It would be better to do the same as they did with HALO-INFINITE.

Nah. We’ll have ranked, campaigns, and lobbies. That’s pretty much the game there other than the mods and scenario editor which would be nice at launch but they’ve always said it would be a few months later.
Why would they want to deal with the fiasco of postponing and probably having to refund pre-orders.
I’m afraid that something will go wrong.
Game is definitely not being delayed. They gonna release it and if it fails they will be like
“One of the biggest risks in making games is that you don’t fully see how a title will really play and feel until you’ve hit a point where it’s difficult to switch gears.” - Benjamin Boudreau, Communications Manager of Relic Entertainment talking about why Dawn of War III failed
Basically he is saying that by the time they realised fans hated the game, it was too late to turn back.
With so little time left till release of AOE IV, feels like they will just release and make the same excuse if it goes downhill.
Only chaos will ensue if they post-pone the date.
From what I played of beta, would like it to come out even if were the odd thing that still needed polish.
(Beta build was OLD)
October 28th is still Long way away, main things that need polish or a re-do is the UI art buttons (as seen in trailer). But that is small art stuff, so should be easily done.
Game is ready to release. With some changes like little zoom out and mini map game is so ready to play. Devs says that some game elements will come few mouths later so we know this and this cant be counted as game is not ready vs. Also I say I dont think devs says game is bad but we cant turn back at this point.
Well it depends. If they can manage to get very basic things in place like
Then and only then should can the game be published. If not, delay the game.
We all know that’s a lie, coh3 development is very close to community and the feedback is really good, dawn of war lll was a mess, if you remember the game trailer was awesome, then they showed the game play and since that day everyone was complaining… They didn’t had the balls to stop the development for some time and fix it.
We also know that relic at some point will stop development in age IV, word edge will assume it and future dlc releases and expansion will come from word’s edge probably that’s why they don’t care that much…
Yeah, unless the release is somehow worse than the beta (unlikely). I’d say the game will be fine to play.
Yeah there was a massive incongruity between what the trailer promised and what was the actual game.
With the case of aoe I don’t think theres anywhere they “lied” or “over-promised”
Or they think the Mod’s will fix up their flaws
You are right but if you remember game looked better in X019 gameplay trailer now it looks worse the excuse was the “readability”
Huh i hadn’t considered that. Did world’s edge do everything in the DE editions?
I wonder if a game company would delay a game if more than 50% of the beta testers thought the game should be delayed.
Or if they would release it anyway and hope for the best.
Thing is there was speculation about how much time was actually needed. We know now that the beta build was already old when we played it. Adam isgreen was very intent on telling us that.
So there is an unknown there of “how different is the release build?”
And a lot of the fixes felt not that large to delay the game another few months/year.
Stuff like hotkeys and zoom shouldn’t take that long to fix after feedback. It’s more about whether they actually chose to listen.
They alluded to giving us a summary of the learnings they got from the feedback but we have yet to hear anything.
It really depends on if the fixes are things
a) That are easily fixed like unit stats OR
b) Things that connected to game engine itself like unit responsivness.
Basically I work as programmer and I know that many things that people assume are easily fixed are both complicated and time consuming. It is very possible that 80% of the things that people complain about is simply not possible to fix without delaying the game for 6+ months.
Which is why I think a beta should be held at least 6-9 months before release, not just a few months before release since you do not have time to fix enough issues.
It’s hard to say without breaking NDA. But zoom for example was insultingly easy to fix. I’d assume unit responsiveness would be #1 priority as well but we don’t know how much 3 months of work have changed it.
It depends. The only real thing we currently have to go by is what we experienced in the beta and we are not allowed to discuss it. There has been no proper beta feedback and at this point I don’t think there will be.
As long as there is enough of a game where those features left out don’t make it feel incomplete (I e. they feel more like gravy that adds to the game) and the game itself doesn’t feel unpolished it should be fine, but only time will tell.
The devs are not helping themselves here by staying quiet and the marketing teams approach is questionable at best.
Zoom is likely an engine thing. They can offer a setting that warns you it impacts performance but if 80% of PCs can’t enable it without the game starting to stutter is it really a fix?
They still absolutely need to fix it but it might be the only thing they have time to fix before release.
I can’t tell you anything because this is related to the beta.
