Is it possible to compare dat files or track changes with the genie editor?

I’ve been working on a mod. There’s a bug introduced somewhere between version 3 and version 4, and I’m trying to find it.

Unlike with git, there doesn’t appear to be a nice way to look at all the changes I’ve made.
I have kept track of the change log, but it seems very easy to accidentally make a disastrous change with the genie editor.

Are there any tools that might help?

I wish someone could design something like this. thats why I had to keep so many copies of my mod…
