Is the game becoming stale and boring? Or the game need more new strats?

There is another post on reddit talks about the same problem for this topic.

Ah yes, because mono spamming one UU that nukes everything or vill boxing is totally fresh.

What is funny is that both these bonuses boost strats that you called stale earlier.

Because most people think that 2 or 3 more percentage points on some random chart means they will significantly increase their win rate. Despite the fact there are so many other ways to throw a game independently of the civ. But people prefer worshipping aoestats first. So they read that Franks have 53% winrate, Burmese 46%, and deduce the first one is always the best option.

Punishing civ picking with civ picking uh?

Cant argue with those results personally. Franks have a pretty smooth gameplay, that’s hard to deny. Might be very predictable civ, but it’s just good at what it does. Burmese… well? not so much.

Your statement is ofc also true. It’s always possible to throw a game even when you have the civ advantage (e.g. by overestimating the civ advantage, or heck, sometimes a simple misclick is all it takes)

At least it means more civs seeing play instead of seeing the same 5 :upside_down_face:

Do you know a better way to do it? I’m all ears

nvm that unless you’re at the cutting edge it doesn’t mean much, because your average player is going to make mistakes like losing a villager to a boar, not scouting the opponents build, not macroing properly, etc.

arabia/arena/BF is stale/boring
the game is not

Instead of promoting an organised lobby browser, easy to understand and with an introductory system to competitive play, for many patches the game (maps, gameplay, units, strategies) has been adapted for people who don’t know how to play. They wanted to push people to play ranked queue and leave the lobby browser for scenarios and games with friends. In short, the level of demand of the class has taken as a reference the dumbest of the class.

Completely absurd map generation, open maps have no hills, huge woods, no difficulty.
Open maps very easy to close.
Walled play is rewarded, more viable strategy.
The feudal age has disappeared.
Exploration is not rewarded.
All games are very similar.

In the end this is reflected even in tournaments. Where the action in feudal is very reduced and always comes to the castle age and in most cases to imperial age.

Perhaps it is necessary to reflect on what the game was like on voobly 4 years ago and what it was about it that made it still being played 20 years later with little change.

I think one way to make the game more interesting would be making the inca blacksmith vil bonus take effect in feudal age and giving the koreans a bonus that makes them build towers faster.

pretty sure we already had that and it was busted.

How was it busted? (20 characters)

Incan Villagers would literally take 1 damage from another villager, all while doing 3 damage back. which means that an incan villager is killing other villagers in 14 shots, while taking 40 shots to die.

this means that the best answer to an incan tower rush was to actually go to castle age and use siege against them.
think about that. a strategy so strong that the best counter strategy is to go to the next age? does that seem fair and balanced to you?

as for Koreans - they could mine stone faster then everyone and not require an upgrade to do it with, and then turn around and build towers faster then everyone too, which means no matter what, their towers are going up faster and they aren’t set back as bad because they can mine the replacement stone faster. and then once you hit castle age your towers auto upgraded.

there is a reason these strategies were nerfed. even pros agreed they needed to be nerfed.

They weren’t. But they’re just kind of trying to mesh all the civs to become similar to try and achieve some ultimate balance equilibrium (which also, isn’t even working, some civs are much more broken than the incas ever were lol)

Koreans had a period where they were literally the best civ in the game before they nerfed the construction boost to towers and upped their cost 11. As of Incas, it has been told countless times already, but let’s try it again: you don’t give a civ the ability to force villfights while having villagers that are literally 3 times as strong as everyone else’s villager. Also what’s funny is that when they do stuff like buffing the boyar, to make people pick Slavs more often for their cav, you call out the devs for being 900 ELO lol

i honestly think its a good thing they gave korean that new identity

when it comes to incas well they might need to refine and renew the teambonuscto give them a clear identity
