Looks like an oversight for me that there are 5 modes: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, FFA. You can only select any 4 of those 5 
Looks like addition of FFA broken the selection logic. There were 4 modes and you could select all them. Not you can still select 4 LOL.
