It’s because of Arena noobs not knowing how to counter the meme Turk fast imp strat, which stops working past 1200+ elo. Turks aren’t even top 10 on Arena while still being one of the weakest civs on Arabia.
Malays, Poles, Romans etc. basically all the power-creeping new civs are outperforming Turks on Arena while also being better overall on other maps. It’s insane that Romans and Malays dominate both Arena and Arabia on top of having naval bonuses.
God forbid Turks have anything good.
And I assume 1900+ is not Arena noobs?

Then why are Bohemians still allowed to have a Castle Age gunpowder UU that costs no food, has almost 4 times the HP of a Janissary, and 7 pierce armor while Janissaries have zero? They also have 85% accuracy while Janissaries only have 50%. They’re a siege unit without minimum range but take neither anti-archer nor anti-cavalry bonus damage. Plus, they can have Hand Cannoneers in Castle Age, which are flat-out superior to Janissaries.
Just hate to see new civs stealing old civs’ unique aspects, power creeping, and ending up doing better than them.

Bohemian uu got nerfed in the pup, thank to you. I agreed with you on the too high hp + armor issue, and the devs have included changes to Adress it.
50% accuracy could be buffed thought to match hc. That’s just annoying to play with

You can nerf their stats to balance them. For example, reduce their range to 6 so they get outranged by E.Skirm/Crossbow. You’ll then have to make your +1 PA Light Cavs for support. Then Castle Age all-in without eco won’t work.
Janissary’s stats, cost, and upgrade costs were all designed around 8 range Janissaries and the old Hand Cannoneer stats.
Castle Age Janissaries had:
- +1 range
- +9 HP
- More pop efficiency
- No attack dispersion handicap
- Only -15% accuracy handicap
…over Hand Cannoneers. But now:
- Their range is nerfed
- They got a stealthy accuracy nerf due to losing that range
- Now they have only +4 HP instead of +9
- Hand Cannoneer’s attack dispersion was reduced to 0.5, but Janissary’s stayed at 0.75
- Janissaries became comparatively less pop efficient because of Hand Cannoneer buffs and infantry buffs favoring Hand Cannoneers
- Their accuracy penalty increased from -15% to -25%
- Market nerf made them less affordable
- The game also introduced new Janissary counters like Condottiero, Hussite Wagons, Elephant Archers, other Hand Cannoneers, Winged Hussars, etc., like they weren’t already being power-crept enough
That’s a total of 8 direct and indirect NERFS without any compensation!
If Hand Cannoneers are considered balanced now, then Janissaries are absolutely not, they’ve been massively power-crept! They were supposed to be generalist Hand Cannoneers that traded infantry bonus and cheapness for exclusive combat advantages more pop efficiency, better tankiness.
Castle Age Janissaries used to beat Hand Cannoneers (which is why they’re more expensive and have no infantry bonus), so that balance should be reestablished by compensating for the range loss.
Who cares.
HC are imperial units locked behind chemistry, and janissaries are castle age units that don’t require chemistry.
The age advantage and timing alone are enough to make them a lot better.

On closed maps yes.
And who the fuck cares about arabia when this kind of units have maps when they can be borderline impossible to counter on other maps, Conquistadors are a ridiculous example of such BS, and that is an TC era UU.

Really sick of being gaslighted about how good Janissaries supposedly are.
With melee pathing improvements, CA becomes dangerously weak to knights, so I need serviceable Janissaries even more urgently, especially against strong camels.
So what is your exact motivation of buffing janissaries? Janissaries buff will inevitably push Turks further in closed maps where they do not need a buff. If you want to buff Turks on Arabia, Janissaries is definitely not a suitable target to buff.
