Someone needs to explain to me… how a Japanese nation without a strong economy, collecting everything in their city… manages to advance through eras so quickly and produce such powerful units. A country that couldn’t even leave its own island in the Middle Ages manages to be the ultimate powerhouse in the game.
They actually gave strong eco steady wood income and farms from the start fast gather rates from farms. They gather food like english farms.
But I feel like the units can get crushed easily by French Cavs and such
The Japanese are easy and lazy. When someone is still in the feudal phase, they’ve already advanced to castles. They send mounted samurai units against anything, and they don’t die. They go in, kill the villagers easily, and then return unpunished. Castles don’t destroy these units. Pikemen don’t destroy these units. And when someone goes to attack the Japanese, their center is super defended. It’s literally the worst of the worst.
Whichever city they invade… they don’t die. It doesn’t matter if there’s a castle. It doesn’t matter if there’s a town center with 12 villagers inside shooting arrows. It doesn’t matter if there are pikemen. They kill more and don’t die. It’s PATHETIC!
When a conqueror chooses Japanese, the players are giving up as soon as the game starts. Can I blame them?
Ture. In middle age ,Japan’s native horses are generally small breeds, only slightly larger than large dogs which you can find in wiki(日本在来馬 - Wikipedia). Dev only know house of Lancaster have small breeds, but ignore the real Pony Civilization Japan. They give Japan full European cavalry combined with deflective armor
And Total War: Shogun 2 is the real game who seriously studying the wars of medieval Japan. In this game Japan’s elite shock cavalry mostly take on the role of countering enemy cavalry and very vulnerable against infantry .Which is mounted Japanese samurai in the AOE4 should be.
