Jian Swordsman shield/unshield mechanic

So when the Jian Swordsman loses enough HP it loses armor but gains attack and movement speed.

I don’t really get this mechanic. How is this mechanic a benefit, is it even? How do you play to actively make use of this mechanic. Does this mechanic make the unit good against any type of unit in particular?

tbh I find it silly.
It has a strategic effect forcing the opponent to really micro down your individual units.

But it’s actually hard to utilize it in that way, as the unit is so heavily timing based. It would need to get another unit rolling behind that, but it’s hard to get a touch on what that unit would be.
Maybe it was inteded to be used together with the Fire Archers, but the Fire Archers currently just suck.

On the other hand this timing feature can be used for phosphoru strats. I wouldn’t say it’s necessariyl OP, but it’s clear to me that the unit can’t really be buffed to be more of general use. And I saw a lot of people struggling to find the right utilization of the unit and losing because they overestimated it’s power.

But maybe as described above just a buff to the Fire Archer would already do the trick here.

Yeah I also watched the new SotL video today, but still fail to see how this mechanic in particular is useful and how to use it strategicly in a game.
I mean I get that this unit is somewhat good against archers, however I feel it would be just as good as a unit, if not more so, if it retained its shielded stats all the way.
In its shielded form, it recieves less damage, but deals less itself, in effect prolonging the engagement, from which a unit that heals over time should benefit.

I made a thread proposing that the mode (shield/2h) be freely controled if you want instead of always automatic
