Join me in not buying this new DLC

Except its not ‘‘the best this game has gotten’’? The game is full of bugs and many people are experiencing severe lag even in single player.

So you are saying Monk/Castle/UU Skins/Map changes etc wasnt needed? Ok then :+1: Although i agree with rest of ur message, game needs better qol updates with mm/reporting system and so on!

Cant wait for “part 2” of this fresh new needed update! :fireworks::love_you_gesture::slightly_smiling_face::love_you_gesture::sparkler:

I fear that after this DLC, support for the game, at least as new content, will simply end.

Furthermore, this update & DLC, are tied to the PS5 release.

It really does have the vibe of “mash all the half finished stuff into something sellable and get it out the door”

I think thats more because the development team seems to have gotten into a mess and neeeded to get something out rather than just being about trying to monetize their previous efforts

Unless the troubles in the studio get worse Im not expecting them to stop any soon

It’s hard enough to get everything right when things are good. When things aren’t going so good it’s next to impossible.

Hard to know for sure w/o sales numbers, but V&V2 just doesn’t look like the product of a company that’s in a sure footing and confident of adequate sales.

With each release resulting in protests and boycotts, it’s a valid fear, sadly.

With more communication and partnership from the devs, it might help. But that ruins any element of surprise, and strips away their creative flexibility, which some of us happen to like. Besides, not even that is proven safe considering there was a dedicated committee comprised of fans for AoE4’s development and we know how that went.

The update and the DLC are wholly separate. Yes the update is great, but with every update there is more and more bugs that the devs don’t fix, and that is causing a lot of issues for people who play on all levels of gameplay.

I’m not sure how this DLC can be compared to V&V.

It’s five new Civs with campaigns for three, you may not like the subject matter but it is disingenuous to compare them as equal.

They lied to us what V&V was. They lied to us what V&V2 was. That is the comparison, the most important comparison in my mind. It demonstrates they have no respect for the fans that have kept this game alive for 25 years.

We know from analysing the files that there is at least one more DLC curently in the works. The idea that support will end suddenly is not compatible with what we know.

Two new civs and three new ‘‘forces’’ as the website calls them. Which you cant just ignore, those 3 will always be there in the game. Its not comparable to V&V because that DLC could just be ignored and not bought.

It’s a little pedantic, Civs and ‘Forces’ are functionally the same.

No, its not. Its fundamentally contradicting the concept of what a civilization is. The core concept of the game as a whole is its timeframe and its civilizations.

I guess I just don’t see it as world-ending as others do.

Based on the stats, bonuses and techs they seem pretty on par with other Civs. I have quibbles about the Heroe units but I’m not losing sleep over it.

I can see it bothers many people, If changing the names will fix that then I guess that is a positive. A rose by any other name and all that

That is why i feel like rename is the only fair solution to this issue i’ve seen suggested so far, or at least thats how i see it currently. I understand not caring, just like i understand caring very deeply. The renames would mean the world to a lot of people, and not negatively affect anyone at all. AoE4 had a virtually identical situation a few years back, and the civs were renamed and that DLC was very well recieved by everyone; that is the outcome i want, personally.

That’s fair, renaming could be done easily. They could keep the 3k names for the 3k campaigns and have them altered for the multiplayer/custom games.

I don’t think renaming does it. It’s just trying to paint over the gaping crack in the wall.

The civs just need to go to Chronicles.

The Xbox release 2 years ago was the start of doom. Ever since that pathing got significantly worse and we didn’t get a single good DLC except BfG. It’s been all cash grab.

I’m more inclined to believe Shannon Loftis leaving around that timeframe had a bigger impact than a console release.

the thing is they announced 5 civs for ranked… cut them now is false promotion of the DLC.
I hate them with all my heart, too. But banishing them completely to Chronicles isn’t an option, as I initially thought.

Renaming and a bit of reworking would be enough. Later of course, a campaign for the medieval civs, and the DLC would be saved.
