So Chinese and Europeans had (horse-)mounted Crossbowmen… How about CAMEL CROSSBOWMEN?
Chinese should have the Mxbow
I’m not sure the camels body is as well suited for a crossbow
Saracens, or, more specifically, the Mamluks, had them too.
@DynasticPlanet5 I hadn’t heard about that either, but it would be really cool if they did. I do know, however, that Berbers and Beja used to throw javelins from camelback.
I have to imagine a spring loaded crossbow could just knock you off your steed from the recoil of a large contraption and a camel isn’t as sturdy legged as a horse is
Heck the Khmer did the crossbow thing on elephants and it was still clunky
unit for barbarian and Raider focused civs? I was thinking a barbarian who fights with a a big sword or axe but that doesn’t feel very fitting for say Huns or Turkic raiders.
Perhaps a cavalry unit? A good regional scout replacement. They are almost a mirror of the scout but moving slightly slower they generate either stone wood or gold (you choose at the unit much like a trade boat picks wood or gold) and it generates slower than the Keshik
Features: doesn’t have as much bonus vs monks. But has some anti building. Still counters woololo boys. Moves about .05 slower than scouts. Does slightly more damage in general. Costs less food but some wood.
Stages would be: Scavenger, Plunderer, Raider
Possible civs: (note upgrade status would mirror current scout line so any civ without Hussar doesn’t get Raider)
- Berbers
- Celts
- Saxons
- Danes
- Vikings
- Teutons???
- Goths (anarchy also increases resource generation. The infantry bonus damage applies to them)
- Huns (Renegades removes the wood cost)
- Franks???
- Cumans
- Turks???
- Saracens???
- Tatars
- Mongols (Team Bonus includes both scout and Scavenger)
- Wei???
- Khitans
- Jurchens???
- Vietnamese???
- Burgundians???
- Bulgarians
Question marks are civs that had some semblance of raiding or ambush and geurilla tactics. Most of Europe is here because they raided Rome at one point or another. Not sure it suffices as a good reason though. Same for Turks who did settle by the time of the Ottomans. Heck Franks would do piracy in the Crusades. So who knows…
It probably doesn’t do much to fix but something could change.
The list is possibly too large?
Inspired by this again “Effect: Infantry gain additional armor in larger groups.”
Villagers become stronger in combat in larger groups.they can get more attack/armor/HP in groups.attack would be more useful I think.
A mounted unit that can swap from holding its sword two-handed or one-handed with a round shield, with the shield put in the back when two-handed wielding. Two-Handed wielding would have higher damage while the one-handed with shield would be tankier.
Idea comes from me playing Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlords with a sword that I can swap holding style.
Mounted Jain swordsman unit.
