King of the Hill should work by unit count nearby

King of the hill is a decent gamemode, especially for FFA, that punishes booming players that luck out by having no one attack them.

8 minute is pretty good time, but it is extremely short when you have to kill every unit and destroy every building from owning player around it.

I would like people to voice their opinion that KotH is not currently viable option to host.

Thankfully there is an easy solution with kb triggers

You can change how by utilizing kbUnitTypeCountInArea(), I have already created map related to it, but it is more fun to play King of the hill on regular maps.

Here is 8 second clip of how it SHOULD work: Player with most units around captures the objective. Alternatively you could need twice as many units as holding player. But having to kill every unit is no no.

Other improvements that would be nice:

  • In my opinion 10 minutes is better time, as KoTH is casual gamemode and remaking army + walking it back within 8 minutes takes lot of game knowledge
  • Visibility over plenty vault location at start (to make sure everyone knows it is KotH)
