Landmark No Refund on Cancel

When you start a landmark and then walk by it, (within half a tile or something) it becomes visible like all other buildings. If you have a villager start building it, only walk by, the landmark starts with 250 health.

Since the building is now visible, the enemy can target it and bring its health to 0. This does not destroy the landmark, it just remains there, and you can continue construction of the landmark. However, if you cancel the landmark after it was at 0 health, you will not be refunded the resources for the building.

I’m not sure what’s intended but it seems like there’s a bug somewhere. Either the landmark should be destroyed when health goes to 0 and no resource refund is given (though seems a bit harsh). Or when you cancel it after it not being destroyed, then a refund should be given.

Hey @Shahaed! I’d love to hear what other people think here. I’m not sure I agree there’s a bug. Let me explain what I’m thinking:

Let’s say you start your landmark, and you push out some resources to get it going. Then the enemy comes and destroys it—essentially destroying those starting resources in the process.

It seems like it’d be a bit strange to be able to stop destroyed buildings to get resources back. It’d be a bit like getting a tiny bit of resources back if you had a unit killed. The one hitch here is that landmarks don’t get poof gone destroyed (for gameplay reasons), but for all intents and purposes are gone unless you decide to repair them (and thus pump in more resources). Make sense?

Definitely open to hearing discussion, though!

While losing 1800 res on a building with 250 health is a bit harsh, it is a perfectly valid mechanic.

But the bug would be the landmark does not get destroyed at 0 health. It becomes an unkillable building if no villagers start construction but do walk by it.

I have nearly the same issue. I started building a landmark. - The enemy came to attack it with rams - almost immediately. Therefore, I cancelled the landmark and got nothing refunded. I guess this is not intended.
