Let's guess the positive review percentage in steam for the upcoming DLC

If the DLC deserve a refund…

That was an answer regarding the general problem, not this DLC.

In the case of a bad DLC you can always leave a bad review for the main game without buying the DLC im the first place.

That sends the wrong message

And also, we will have these civs in the ladder and competitive games

So even if you dont pay for the DLC you will still experience it

My guess is around 40%.

Worse than romans (no campaign for Jurchen and Khitans+ heroes), better than V&V(Khitans and Jurchens). Midway between both. (49+31)/2=40%

Steam can always deny a refund. It’s not guaranteed.
You can do it if you want to but I don’t think many people will go out of their way to buy the DLC just to vent their anger.

This is what I dislike the most about this DLC. They are forcing us to go through this nonsense even if we don’t buy their garbage.

I dislike the concept genuinely but I feel it won’t end up being as negative as V&V, since V&V is a shabby product on the surface, while 3K at least looks big and rich.

Don’t underestimate the Chinese. If they decide to review bomb the game & DLC, it will be a disaster for Microsoft.

Just look at Overwatch on Steam.

Well they are already pretty unhappy…

The bet is on whether “the part of existing Chinese AOE2 players who are unhappy with the DLC” outweighs the “new Chinese players who got attracted by the 3K title”.

But would the latter be happy seeing the 3K represented with European armor and “Japanese-like” architecture (I know they are not 100% exclusive to Japan, but that is what an average person will feel)? Let’s wait and see…

TW3K did a large amount of brilliant artwork and modeling to pander to the Chinese market. WE should do the same if they want to copy their success.

But that requires effort. They couldn’t even be bothered to let the devs finish 2 Chinese DLCs.

If there is an abnormal amount of negative reviews that doesnt look plausible, steam hides them behind a “*”. I dont remember if its automatic or each user needs to check its box when writing their stuff, but reviews from users refunded the product have a message before the text, just like those who received the product for free.

Life will be tough for steam staff.
