List of OP things urgently need to be fixed. In order of priority. Pls pin this

  1. German Inquisitor with a Russian teammate

  2. Mounted grenadaro from Argentina revolt, despite being a heavy and light cav, they trade very very well vs light cav and skirms which are their supposed counter, and trade well vs heavy infantry and heavy cavs too (essentially they have no counter)

  3. Cuatrero, comanchero, gaucho similar ranged cav outlaws, they shadowtech with a cheap upgrade, and their charged ability is too strong, area huge damage with snare at range, which means they can delete a large group of enemy counter units at once, beating their counter units usually (skirms), not as broken as mounted grenadaro but still op.

  4. Ottoman sipahi shipments, too many of them, they can age up with sipahi and send sipahi from mosque, and combined with mosque upgrades for shadowtech nizams and cannons, especially in team games where every teammate gets sipahi and the power spike is too strong, enough to end the game unfairly. Lakota team tokala soldiers can be abused in a similar way by feeding lakota player to age 4 and send team tokala, which can end the game.

  5. French Ancien RĂ©gime card, allowing training royal musk and royal dragoons to replace their standard musk and dragoon, but these are native units which benefit from french insane amount of native cards, French native cards are intended to only benefir the natives units from native settlements, not their standard unit. French player should be forced to make standard musk and dragoons not the native ones

I for one am tired of this civ always being targeted. It’s clear the community is biased against otto as shown by their perpetual use of slurs such as “abuse guns”, “botto”, and misspelling of SIPAHI (thank you very much for spelling it correctly in your OP though).

People need to understand that this civ’s bonus of yoruks spawning for free is actually a significant nerf to them. These “free” yoruks aren’t truly free because they don’t produce xp! Because of this, otto has to build a mosque and tp in age 1 - and sometimes even 2 TPs just to compensate! Just think of how significantly that limits their age 1 scouting, livestock gathering, and treasure finding!

Furthermore, due to yoruks spawning more slowly than other civ’s vills, otto has a low economy especially in the early game. This means that have such expensive units as abus or wood costing units such as azap is a detriment. Can you imagine having to train a wood costing unit while you can’t even afford a house in age 1 due to NEEDING to spend your wood on tps and/or a mosque?

Finally, why nerf SIPAHI more? They received a very significant nerf in the form of their kill bounty already. This change was too strong, civs that actually get xp for their villagers now get +12 MORE xp when they manage to kill a SIPAHI. That change was unacceptable to me.

Please stop this blatant hate against the ottomans civilization. Do better, aoe3 community.

I brought up the Team Patriarchy issue with Russia, and he’s suggested some reason Ottoman nerfs which I added to. We listed some other things as well. Imo it’s worth a read.

While it’s easy to lay blame at the feet of the community, we did have a fairly large thread dedicated toward ways to improve the balance of the Ottomans. Unfortunately that thread was hidden by a forum moderator, presumably because it contained upcoming patch information covered by an NDA.

This is not really a balance discussion, this is a list of game breaking errors that need to be fixed. Maybe number 3/4/5 are more like balance issues but 1 and 2 are definitely bugs.

Usa church bug isnt 1 of a few major issues?

Fun fact about that one … at one point it was fixed before the most recent patch and it got reverted somehow

I’m actually inclined to count 2 as a balance issue as well. I think they’re behaving as intended and simply need a nerf. A bug would imply that bonus damage isn’t being applied correctly or something else like that (I haven’t tested, but I don’t believe that’s the case).

Portuguese Dragoons behave pretty well against them, but the fact that well-above average Dragoons are required to deal with them is a balance issue.

The developers should give them a negative multiplier against cavalry and in exchange give them more cavalry units so they don’t have to rely solely on this unit. For example, give them carabinieri, mounted guerrillas, cuirassiers and lancers. (trainable)


Gauchos don’t have any charged attacks, they are just dragons that cost one population. Regarding shadow tech, this seems to be a personal assessment rather than a genuine problem.


Considering all the times the Mounted Grenadier was nerfed, I think the Argentine Revolution needs a rework, both to make it more interesting to use and to avoid over-nerfing it.

Mercenaries from standard buildings should train slower or something.

Also, imperial mercenary contractor for these civs gives tooo much value

I think they should be limited to just the bar and equivalents. They are elite units, and should generally be limited.

a single Tavern is never enough to train a usable amount unless you have dutch instant training and it’s susceptible to get Mortar’d since it’s only one building.

even if three are still now a lot I like the idea of advanced saloon card for Federal civs and germanies mercenary camps - gives more production buildings but still limited
