Mahout attack and attack move Critical Bug

:arrow_forward: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

Even being a signature unit of the civ, and mentioned in the civ description, as the strongest unit of the civ.
Mahout Pathing and their blocking area has always been worst out of all units in the game, and even though that is, little bit better now, than previously.

But the attack move / attack of Mahout remains very poor. in almost all cases when a group of mahout is tasked to attack/attack move an enemy group, they rotate around (180 degrees) many times on the way.

And even after they reach the enemy group, only 1 or 2 of them engage with enemy units, while others just dance around OR circle along the perimeter of enemy group, OR just turn around (180 degrees) facing opposite to the enemy units.

This wastes alot of time and eventually results ALWAYS in wastage of 2-3 Mahouts (considering a normal enemy unit composition of, larger number of Infantry and some anti-cav)

That makes attacking with 2-3 mahouts mostly a suicide. And as they are so pop heavy, making 5-10 of them consumes alot of population (~25-60pop), among which 6-18 pop is assured to die without engaging.

(This also eventually makes it highly inefficient to use them in smaller quantity. And their pop and cost restricts to make them in higher quantity)

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Make some mohouts
  2. Select all mohouts.
  3. Attack move / attack / right click on an enemy unit among their group.

Mahouts should engage to nearest units / enemy unit in the group.


imo mahouts work like cannons, you cannot put them at front, they must be behind all your army, and atack only when they cand reach the back of the enemy withou dying or when the enemy doestn have dragoons

Mohouts are tanky enough to slaughter caroleens, perform good against normal musks. ONLY! if massed.

Also if a melee cav of such pop, blocking radius and hp doesnt meant to be engaged in melee. Then whats the pupose anyways :relieved::man_shrugging:t3:

sure ! thanks :slight_smile: hope this gets addressed and resolved soon, its one of the many problems that contributes to hate and low adoption of India, especially for longer games and treaty games.

Yea its solved 99% Pathing is wayyy better than it used to be, as they decreased the hitbox size of mohouts.

NOTE : This was done in an update months ago. I dont remember the exact update but it was atleast 1st quarter of 2023.
