Make ranged infantry put themselves behind other melee units

Given that it is now possible to make specific units be in custom positions in formations as shown by the recent change to Centurions, would it be unreasonable to ask developers to do the same for ranged infantry, that, instead of putting themselves on the back as expected, mix themselves with other melee infantry?
