Make wonders useful!

a) player can choose out of the 4 ressources which to generate

or

b) population increased by 15%

Choose one or allow playuer to choose whihc bonus. So it’s a bit like the wonders in Empire Earth.
And eveyrone shuold only be able to create one wonder.

If he chooses to generate a ressource let’s say stone, he will immidiately get all stone back used for this building and thjen starts generating stone. That way it’s made sure he got back the one ressource he spent and wants to generate, same for the other ressources

Wonders would cost you the game in ranked. Wonders are there mostly for eye candy in scenarios or mission objectives.

Have you not watched a video by the Viper for example?

Sounds reasonable, it’s not like wonders in the standard 1v1 200pop game are feasible unless you’re already far ahead in a winning position

I once proposed that, as most wonders are a religious building, that relics can be put inside them and generate 2x as much gold as in a monastery. That would increase the risk/reward of making one, do you also bet your relics inside ?

And as you’re still limited by relics it wouldn’t have a snowballing effect if making several, as opposed to generating resources who in a very long game without it being a winning condition, could be a slow exponential (would be a feitoria without a pop usage) or increasing max pop.

even with all 5 relics you are only getting 150gold/minute extra, so it would take almost 7 minutes to recoup just the gold cost of the wonder, let alone the stone cost (food and wood are probably not a concern at this stage of the game)

And with 5 relics in a standard game you’re already getting the relics win condition, transfering that to the wonder would mean breaking your current timer.

Indeed stone is by far the most sensitive part.

i don’t see the point:
either you are playing standard win-conditions, then building a wonder is already a win condition
or you are playing conquest (like most people) then the 2x gold from relics isn’t worth the investment, so wonders are still useless

Would that be like an Ameniam Fortified Church that can be garisoned and shoot arrow?

the wonder wouldn’t shoot anything.

The issue with Wonders:

  • Wonders give no other bonus aside from being a victory condition, making it useless if that victory condition is disabled

  • Wonders give you a bonus that makes building a Wonder viable in Conquest, making it overpowered if that victory condition is enabled

You can have only one of the options.

Hm, thinking about it, Wonders could give a bonus if the Wonder victory condition is disabled
