Make your own regional unit unit

I’ll start with one.

Billman. European regional unit, available in feudal age. Cost 45 food and 15 gold. 4 attack. Ignores armor. 45 HP. Shock infantry class. Plus 10 vs cavalry. Receive bonus damage from militia, slower movement than militia. 1 base melee armor. 0 base pierce armor.

In the Imperial Age the upgrade cost to 300 gold and 400 food. Elite Billmen. Same per unit. 6 attack. Ignores armor. 65 HP. Shock infantry class. Plus 20 vs cavalry. 2 base melee armor. 1 base pierce armor.

Why would I make billmen over spears other than the weakness to swords instead of arrows!?

I edited them to be slightly cheaper than militia. So in 2v1 they would win anyway, and dish out some good damage. The Last Chieftains civs Champi would also suffer trying to fight them up close if 1V2. Scouts would melt trying to fight up close in early feudal. Compared to the spearman, the Billman will do more damage to the militia than spearman-line class even though they take more bonus damage themselves.

Macuahuitl Knight

Replaces the militia line for mesoamerican civs (Aztec, Zapotecs, Tlaxcaltecs)

Rinriyoq Horseman

Replaces the Xolotl Warrior for South American civs (Muisca, Chimu, Inca, Mapuche, Tupi)

War Hammer Soldier

European regional unit, available for Barracks. Heavy infantry unit good against Militia line.

Joust Lancer

Heavy cavalry unit, available for most european civs. Charges attack.

Kanabo Warrior

Regional unit for an eventual Japanese DLC.

Norse Axeman

Editor unit, turned into scandinavian regional infantry (Vikings/Norse, Finns, Danish)

Slinger line

Replaces the current slinger for South American civs with two units: Slinger (Feudal), Elite Slinger (Castle) and Imperial Slinger (Imperial, exclusive for Incas)

Hoalcana Javalineer

Harbalester unit replacement for Maya related civs (Kiches, Chontales, og Mayas)

Atlatl Warrior

Regional replacement for the Skirmisher line, available for Aztecs, Zapotecs and Tlaxcaltecs.

My idea for a generic meatshield scout infantry for non meso/andine areas without horses:

Vanguard (Heavy, Elite)
Cost: 60 F 40 W
Hp: 65 - 75 - 90
Armor: 0/2 - 1/2 - 2/2
Speed: 1.1
Attack: 3 - 4 - 5
RoF: 2
Training time 30
Upgrade cost: 300G, 700G
LoS: 4 - 5 -6
+2 - 4- 6 vs buildings

Farussiya - Cavalier replacement for MENA (Being geared towards anti-archer like the way Savar works)

Sipahi - Knight replacement for MENA (Being geared towards anti-archer like the way Savar works)

Talwar Warrior - Regional Swordsman replacement for South Asian civs. (Does two consecutive attacks at one go. Dual wielded. Slightly makes up for hard hitting alternative like Knight)

Boyar - Turned into regional in case of Slav-Balkan DLC. Weakened melee armor stats.

Mounted Crossbowman
European regional unit, replacement for heavy cavalry archer
Should have more power, but attacks and moves slower. And 5 less hp. But is trained 3 seconds faster.
Thus its slower but thougher defense and thougher attack. Because of the slower speed and slower attackspeed it would ask more micro to do hit and run tactics.

Cost: 40 W 60 G
Hp: 55
Armor: 1/1 (both more armor)
Speed: 1.4 (slightly slower)
Attack: 8 (+1 extra attack)
More bonus damage to infantry than heavy cavalry archer
LoS: 6
RoF: slower than a normal heavy cavalry archer
Training time 27 (3 sec faster)
Upgrade cost: 400G, 650G

Arrow Knight

Arrow Knight
A regional upgrade for the Aztecs and Mayans, on top of Elite Skirmisher or replacement of Elite Skirmisher.
It should have a long arrow as weapon. And gains slight bonus damage against infantry.

Gothic Champion & Gothic Halberdier

Gothic Champion & Gothic Halberdier
The even more thickly armored version of the Champion and Halberdier, should be regional units for Burgundians, Teutons, Bohemia and Poles.
It should have +1 melee armor and +1 pierce armor. And move slightly slower. And slightly increased attackspeed, since the armors were made so they can still move smoothly to swing their weapons.

Saboteur
Should be a heavier version of the Petard. You should be able to train it in a Saboteurs dig or mine. That should be placed just outside a castle’s range. And then you can put a Saboteur inside, and that gives you the ability to do one attack on the Castle as if it’s a tower but with explosive projectile. And it takes very long to attack.

Blowgunner
A blowdart gunner, a regional unit for southamerican and mesoamerican civs. In the archery range.
Good against cavalry or monks?

Staffslingers

Staffslinger
A soldier with a long staff with a slinger that hurls medium size rocks. A feudal age siege unit for everyone.

Flamethrower

Flamethrower
A soldier using a (stolen/looted) flamethrower by ancient Byzantine design. Should be available to Byzantines, Bulgarians and Saracens (the latter two actually looted these when they defeated the Byzantines and then used their own weapons against them).

Mercenary Swiss Pikeman
The infamous Swiss Pikemen that dominated the battlefield in the 1300th and onward. When defeating Habsburg and Swabian forces they revolutionised European warfare on land. Not just defensive. They were drilled to attack in pike squares. But they were also drilled with a charge attack to strike their enemy with the lance they held. This made them infamous in Europe, hence they were hired everywhere since they were also seasoned by fighting the Swabian HRE and Austrian Hapsburg forces that were outnumbering them by factor 2 and even factor 3.
They were hired by the French, Italian Citystates, Papal state, HRE states (not Swabia and Austria), the Hungarian Black Army, the Spanish hired them and formed their own ‘tercios squads’.
Thus they should be a regional unit for the French, Italians, Teutons, Magyars and Spanish.

Harpax

Harpax
A scorpion that shoots a grappling hook to pull a ship towards it.
Available to Romans, Byzantines, Sicilians, Italians.

Mayan Siege Tower

Mayan Siege Tower
A siege tower that can be positioned to stay in place. Then to be mounted by 4 ranged units that can shoot from it.
This was a Siege tower used by the Mayans who were the attackers. Thus the attackers could level with the higher walls of the defenders to shoot from a height or the same height.
Now we know the Aztecs at one point had puppet rulers installed in western Mayan cities. This should be a regional siege unit for Mayans and Aztecs. Maybe as a replacement for the Scorpion.
Or make it into a visual woodentower with (plumed) archers on top, and when you garrison the max of 4 archers it will shoot more arrows. Just like a tower. Basically its a packable/unpackable wooden tower.
