Yeah, I’ll grant you that, but tbh I tend to give castles the benefit of the doubt because in different ways they’re all kinda squished, given castles were very large fortifications that they’re squeezing into 4x4 tiles.
Yes, it’s wood. The whole structure of traditional Minang house is wood. The floor is raised on wooden stilts several feet above the ground to avoid floods and wild animals. But @FlexedPigeon206 did not specifically talk about Malay castle in that comment.
It does seem like there is some room to un-squish it a little bit, if they push the right side out more. I wonder if there was a reason to not have the roof extend out more to the right? Looks like there is room. Maybe there are legal or usage copyrights regarding the structure seen in the OP’s 2nd image that they have to be careful not to infringe upon or mimic too much.
But if the right is moved out for balance, the whole top part could be un-squished a bit:
I hope not. The idea that a building can be copyrighted when trying to recreate it in a nonphysical form is utterly stupid.

My thought was inspired by this about Eiffel Tower at night. Maybe there is something “attached” to the OP’s 2nd image that is in a similar realm?
“As it turns out, it technically is true. Distributing photographs of the night-lit Eiffel Tower is a violation of the artist’s copyright.”
“To clarify, the Eiffel Tower itself, constructed in 1889, is in the public domain. Tourists can click away all they want during the daytime. However, the light show, added in 1985, is considered an artistic display and is indeed protected by copyright. But because the lighting is attached to the Eiffel Tower – and since any photographs of the Eiffel Tower taken at night aren’t likely to be terribly interesting without the lights, the practical effect is that nighttime images of the Eiffel Tower are a violation of the artist’s copyright under French law.”
I believe there is no such law exist here, been there too
the Malay castle wall texture colour should have been made similar to this instead of being white.
Maybe to help quickly visually distinguish it as a castle for the player, they made the base white. After seeing those, I think it might be good that it is white, actually?
I say that after playing AoE4 recently and seeing how hard it is to quickly distinguish between buildings there sometimes.
