Recent events have given me an idea. Remove deflection from hospitallers (useless unit like halberdier), remove priests, give only spies in the church with assassins enabled by default, with deflection and the ability to heal. Maybe even make them girls. (Does anyone remember this painting from the 15th century, I can’t find it anywhere)
Why? That all seems unnecessary.
The church where the priests are trained from though - now there’s something that could do with it’s own model.
Still is the best suggestion I read on this forum lately.
Firstly, it is more interesting than the classic European tactics only with a smaller number of troops, which everyone uses in Malta.
Secondly, I consider it a big omission that Malta does not use its church in any way, unlike Spain.
I don’t think it’s that necessary to make changes to the Maltese Church, but I would replace the Maltese Priest with a Chaplain who can be a “normal” version of the Inquisitor, so he can heal and is good against mercenaries and heroes. I don’t really like the unique technologies of the Maltese Church, so with the “Papal Bull” card I would add another tech that turns Spies into Papal Legates (They could get a Maltese tabard), and buffs them along with Chaplains, replacing the “Assassins” card. Perhaps the Chaplains and Legates could grant the Unction aura of the Spanish Missionaries to the Sentinels and Hospitallers. Or maybe replace the “Assassins” card with one that transforms Priests and Spies into Chaplains and Legates that grant the Unction aura…
