The Chinese presence dates back to the inception, but unfortunately, the bugs plaguing the Imperial Official share that same ancient legacy. Chinese is one of my main civs now, and the IOs annoy me in many ways:
Issues:

IOs lack any survival instinct when collecting tax, often wandering onto the frontline and into certain death. Even when pulled back from the brink, they show no grace or gratitude, immediately pathing back toward the enemy. It is a tedious cycle of saving an official who seems determined to die.

After garrisoned and issued ‘Return to Work,’ the IO moves back to his previous location remains unprofessionally idle, instead of resuming supervision.

IO cannot use “teleport” like a normal villger. When it is set to supervise a dropoff point at the opposite side of a TC, a garrision and return to work won’t put it at the side of the drop off point.

Manual tax collection sometimes bugged. I believe, when another auto tax collector is moving around and targeted a drop-off point, when I manually ask another IO to the same dropoff point to collect tax, it just take my order, but bugged out and do not do anything.

The IO lacks the manners to yield his position while supervising, stubbornly obstructing the path of other units instead of stepping aside with grace.

After a manul tax collection, there is no indication of any kind about the readiness of the next collection. I have to put the mouse cursor over a drop off point and wait for the icon to change.

I think the tax collection logic is often not intelligent enough. say it may move a long way to collect a few dollars.

when a building that is being supervised got destroyed, the IO stuck there instead of free to collect tax. Similarly, when villagers leave a mining site, the IO will just stand there doing nothing.
There could be some more small bugs like this. I can only recall the above points for now. Should I fire bug report one by one? I don’t want to pollute the forum.
Suggestions:
- Similar to when a technology being researched, display on screen with a progress bar that show the tax collection cooldown timer. I think the timer is like 20s or 25s. Just make it clear to everyone.
- Allow players to toggle a building for enable/disable auto tax colection, and then IOs won’t automatically go there, so we don’t need to delete building to stop IO from moving. Or, even better, give some memory to the IOs and when i drag it to another direction, just don’t go back for a minute. Or just program the IO don’t go near a war zone.
- For the auto tax collection logic, I wish it is implemented like what an actual player will do. Say when the collection limit is 70, and there is a building stacked up 700 gold, then I wish the IO just focus on that building, take it once, and then move near it, and ASAP collect from the 700 gold building again so as to clear the "tax debt”. Best to have Chinese civ players to have a discussion.
p.s. I found another post about IO over-queueing. That I consider as a good feature but not a bug.
