FYI you can change map size in the base version of Age of Empires I from 1997.
The fact that it’s not possible here, 24 years later, is just embarrassing.
People that find maps too small are happy - they can make them bigger.
People that find maps too big are happy - they can make them smaller.
People that find maps to be ok are happy- they know they have an option in case they encounter something that they don’t like and want to cusotmize.
