By using a redemption monk to convert a stable Meso Civs gain the ability to train the Xolotl Warrior. However, Mayans don’t have access to Redemption but have access to Atonement which allows them to convert enemy monks with redemption and then convert an enemy stable. Considering the amount of steps involved, and the decision required by both players it is unlikely this has ever happened before, Mayans don’t typically get into monk wars. But if you ever manage to convert a redemption monk as Mayan you have an opportunity to make AOE history.
I mean… who cares!? You dont get any armor or speed techs for it and because as such its more expensive and worse than an Eagle always
Are you really telling top tier players to tank their elo for this!?
Do any top players actually go this is forum? Besides Community game players and Lower elo players are far more likely to have success. And you do it for the same reason people build wonders in ranked except you would also be making history.
It’s a cool idea in theory. Problem is that Redemption is a global “resource,” not a unit attribute. So the ability doesn’t transfer even if you convert an enemy monk with redemption. The only monk techs that transfer if you convert an enemy monk are stat techs like Sanctity, Fervor, and Block Printing.
i’m against. This is just a straight up buff for mayans. All of this just to achieve the goal of making a troll unit.
even those are reset to the normal stats of your civ when you pick-up a relic iirc
Why not, it’s just a game. Outside of tournaments, tryharding is often secondary to making entertaining content, even for pros. Both T90 and Viper used to have a “trolling” series where they would take unorthodox or meme strats and make them work against somewhat less skilled (but still good) opponents. Frankly that might have been my favorite part of Viper’s channel - it’s fun to see a bad strat executed so well that it becomes good. (I also saw Viper make Xolotls in a tourney not so long ago, although it was obviously a flex from a winning position.)
No buff or change of any kind has been proposed. BTW Mayas can train Xolotls already if you give them a Stable in scenarios, but obviously there’s no way for them to acquire one in a typical match.
Yeh, it’s a meme post. OP is not asking for Redemption to be added to the Mayans tech tree.

some mayan xototls have probably been trained on megarandom (where you can start with a stable)
additionally in battle royal (remember that?) people probably made them

When you see as many top-level tournament games as I do, the game can become quite boring, because only a limited number of civilizations and strategies are viable. So when pros do outside-the-box stuff like that, it can be very special.
