I have the legacy device called Microsoft SideWinder Strategic Commander that is almost 20 years old now. It is a kind of gamepad for the left hand with programmable buttons (including shifts and macros) and map scrolling/rotation. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWf7TCps5uU
Officially its driver and software are not supported anymore (it is for Windows 98/ME) but it works with this fan-made engine, created by Philip Merwarth: https://strategic-engine.software.informer.com/1.3/
I am using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and Steam and currently I enjoy playing Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition with it. Just working great with no problems there. But in Age of Empires 3: The Asian Dynasties it is not working in both window and non-window mode. I haven’t tried different configurations in Compatibility Tab of the .exe file of AoE 3 yet.
Any suggestions how making it work in AoE 3?
