Multiplayer custom scenario bug

Game Version:

  • Build: 101.101.36202.0 4819260
  • Platform: Steam
  • Operating System: Windows 7
  • Gamertag: Dolqus5512

Issue:

When I join a lobby with a custom scenario, the red text: * The Host is configuring lobby settings which may require a file transfer * is shown and I can’t ready up UNTIL the host readied up and I rejoined the game, after doing that the file transfered and no red text was shown (I’ve noticed that the problem is not happening to everyone, but in my case it happens every time).
Since the last update (36202) it even doesn’t transfer the file anymore (but I still can ready up), after starting the game it crashes (no CTD) with an error “File Error 23”

Reproduction Steps:

Here’s how to reproduce the problem:

  1. You need atleast a host and a client to reproduce it
  2. Create a lobby and select a custom scenario
  3. When the user joins he sees the text in chat * The Host is configuring lobby settings which may require a file transfer * and can’t ready up.
  4. Rejoin with the client to see if you still can’t ready up after.
  5. Host has to ready up now.
  6. Rejoin with the client again and you see you can ready up and (perhaps) the file gets transferred. (The client even can ready up if it didn’t get the file)
  7. IF the file didn’t transfer, start the game and the client game will crash (no CTD) with File Error 23

For the past few days, I’ve been getting error 17 or 23 almost constantly on custom- map/data mod/mappool lobbies after the game starts. This happens immediately after we move from lobby to readying up the game for everyone.

Steps from above poster will do.

E: it is especially funny that the whole file name isn’t showing up, instead the name is cut off at the edges on both sides of the message.

Actually finally realised where that file is even supposed to be, so it’s username\appdata\local\temp\AOE2DE_\etc…

HOWEVER! I do not have that AOE2DE_ folder in temp, which is probably obviously the reason, but what can I do about it? Do I create one? Or is something else stopping the game from doing anything about it.

E: oh it appears when you launch the game. x] so it’s something else then that’s going wrong.

It has been fixed with the new update, thank you Devs <3
