new update came in today! Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition — Update 36906 does it have this fix?
I’ll test it out today or whenever i have time.

I tested it out multiple times and it has not been fixed. It has improved a little because the lag only begins at the 15 minute mark now.

Same issue for me - hosting a multiplayer game 2 vs 2 (x2 AI, myself, and one other player) I experience response delays that make the game unplayable.

is this problem can’t be fix or what, looks like this issue has been exist for a long time ,so annoying to play. Do something please.

Experiencing the same issue. 2v2, 2 AI, watching resource monitor and it’s not the hardware on either machine. Unplayable. Please fix this guys! I’ve been a huge fan of AOE since childhood, and would hate to have to uninstall this due to this issue.

Was able to play a game until the end with population 100, but the AI is very limited in hard mode. Need to try other difficulties. Also, in medium difficulty, not sure this was happening.

Issue is still persisting. Seems to be tied to host AI. Host player has worst lag, other human players slight, but manageable lag.

Yup I’ve been having issue for a month now. Here is a google drive link. 4 vids showing problem. CHECK notes at bottom for exact time when nonplayable lag kicks it.

i just bought the game with my 3 friend. and we just wanted to game with AI 4v4. LAG was incredible. Im thinking about giving it back to steam. Does anyone know how to fix this thing? this is unbelievable…

Idk. Its been like almost 3 months and they have barely even tried to fix it. In the meantime i just play ranked or unranked lobbies.

This is annoying. I bought AOE II DE for me and my fiancee, because we love playing co op against AI, but is unplayable! Is there a way to uninstall last update? (i have AOE from steam) The problems with command starts after January update what i read from many people.

They’re going to be releasing a patch soon so cross your fingers for that. This problem is so stupid.

I had also this problem with friends. First game ran smoothly without problem (without mods)… When second game strikes then this problem exist to us…(without mods)
Me and my friend vs. 2 AI + with or without x9/x256 tech mod = After 4 minutes of gameplay one of us lagging… command delay 10-50seconds… few more minutes later command freeze 1-20min.
So we tried a fix that works for us:
- Enable V-sync
- Put atleast 3 AI.
- Choose (HD version of AI)
- Choose gamespeed: FAST
- Tested this without mod and working! (havent tested with mod yet).
Another test which only worked 30min for us then start lagging/freeze for both player:
- 3 AI
- Just AI version
- Gamespeed: FAST
- x256 Tech mod
Like in this screenshot. You can see the (red) clock on our name left side. In this screenshot gameplay we tested with normal AI and x256 mods which worked for us 30min before it start lagging/freezing. When the clock turn from (blue) to (red) then you notice the lag/freeze starts…

when i created unit or upgrade blacksmith or university nothing display about - warning (unit created) or something … do you know anything about that ?
i hear voice but i dont see warning writing left side … anybody have same issue ?
Could you please give us an update? Any patch to solve this? A release date? Are you guys aware of this is still happening? Will you give my money back? I can’t play.
