Why don’t you play solo instead?
You will have much better success playing with a pre assembled group of players. Relying on matchmaking has lead to half of my games collapsing as a result of no communication.
The official discord for age of empires has a clan channel where people are regularly recruiting, there are other discords where people organize groups for games such as rising empires or EGC. There’s also the tried and true method of adding people you enjoyed playing with in a game as a friend and partying from there.
