The civ represents the Kingdom of Sicily so Sicilians is the best fit. Why use a worse name when there is a more accurate one? Britons and Germans are both rather poor names for their civs. Bohemia is in the HRE and Hungary is not, that’s why “Germans” includes one but not the other.
Maybe an Indian split (Mughals, Marathas and Bengalis).
That would be wonderful, though I can’t see it happening. It’s pretty much the equivalent of having French, Dutch and British amalgamated as just a ‘Europe’ civ. The original Devs did a poor job of an ‘india’ civ, but I doubt the current Devs will unpick it.
I don’t think it would be too hard. India, as it is, is mostly just the Mughal Empire with a couple Maratha and Raj units and flair. They wouldn’t have to change too much, just replace some of the units and rename a few cards, then they could make a more thematic Maratha civ down the line. Some people think the Raj should be its own civ, but I disagree. I think the British Consulate option represents the Raj well enough without having to #### # ##### new civ just for them.
edit: I have no idea why that was censored lol
It is surprising that the Asian civs have been barely touched outside of balance changes. I think the samurai getting a grenade attack with a card is the only significant modification I can think of.
Who are these deranged individuals?![]()
Currently as it sits, Indians are represented as essentially the Raj with a thin facade of Mughal (ai and flag) anyway. I always think they should embrace Mughal only stuff to make that civ more cohesive. Other units, like Gurkas who don’t probably warrant a whole civ could easily be Asian mercs or an Asian Minor civ.
Maratha are totally a playable civ worthy faction (not, strangely, as outlaws!), though even if we just had solely a refreshed Mughal Indian civ I’d be super happy with that.
I have always thought that Japan and the Chinese should have a revolution in age 4 to represent the period of the Qing dynasty with the Chinese and the Meiji period with the Japanese, they could do something like what was done with revolutionary France and give China and Japan new and more updated units that more adequately represent the 19th century, the Chinese could have shipments of light cannons and could have the Boxer as their main unit, which would have a more modern rifle, some units could be updated so that They would look a little more modern and the chu ko nu would be eliminated, the Japanese could have musketeers and light cavalry with uniforms similar to the American Confederate since the latter were the ones who modernized the Japanese army, they could also have shipments of gatling guns, they would be eliminated samurai units

Absolute long shot but my dream for the next DLC after Denmark/Poland would be pacific islands <3
- A polynesian umbrella civ. Or perhaps a Maori and a Hawaiian civ?
- Water mechanics updates
- Pacific maps - e.g. Easter Island, New Zealand North/South, Hawaii, Atoll, Islands, Australian maps (
) - New natural resources and animals; guano, seals, etc.
- New native / minor civ sites
Many possibilities!! It’s one of the few areas of the planet not yet touched
Come on bro, this is less a prediction and more like wishful thinking.
Persia has been on the fanbase list since basically Asian Dynasties. Brazil became the new fanbase obsesion after Mexico was released and, in the days when the DLC was still a mystery, the forum was ablaze with dudes fighting right and left about what would be better, If Korea, Morocco, Indonesia or some yet to be defined African empire.
The reality is that, besides Poland and Denmark, everything else is as possible as snow on July, which is to say, near null.
Well… Once you say it, I could totally see some stuff like that.
Yes, I agree…it’s just that I couldn’t find any other kingdom in North Africa besides Morocco, since North Africa was Ottoman at that time…
That’s a good one, you could advance in age there instead of the TC…although most likely to maintain regionality they will make it so that African civs can only advance through alliances and Asian civs from the Middle East through wonders (Persians through Persian wonders and Omanis through Omani wonders)…
Yes, the Germans of AoE 3 are directly the HRE of AoE 4… Hungary is a revolution because of the Hungarian revolution of 1848-1849…
Yes, that’s why I think they will just add a Maratha civ and rename the Indians as Mughals…
Yes, most likely they are saving it for next year to add a new Asian DLC and instead of adding as many maps as TAD, they will rework China (make it more Qinq), Japan (add Meiji Era cards) and India (add a Maratha deck)…
Most likely there will be 2 Asian dlcs plus post-colonial dlcs in 2025 and 2026 and by 2027 they will focus on Oceania and Natives of South America…
Well, it makes sense, since Brazil was an empire, and many Brazilians play AoE 3 and one of the devs is Brazilian and wants to bring Brazil into the game…
Hungary seems more inspired by the military frontier during the Great Turkish war than the 1848 Revolution. If it was the 1848, then it would be german exclusive. Their revolutionary’s name is literally Grenzer, a Serbo-Croatian anti-ottoman irregular on behalf of the Habsburg.
But I would really like to see Morocco and Persia as a new middle eastern civ type
Of course, we have to see what they do with Morocco and Persia…
Speaking of DLC, does anyone know when the two flags DLC comes out?
supuestamente este año.
So nothing new? Too bad, I hope at some point the developers or someone says something regarding the DLC.
That would be nice…
End of this year (probably early December like what happened with the Mexico DLC)…
They will probably release a trailer with the release of the DLC and like what happened with KotM…
