I have sent several support requests using the contact form, but no one has replied to help me solve my problem. This is my last chance to finally fix the issue and play Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition after a 6-month pause due to this problem.
Problem:
My game crashes when I log in with my xBox flegy333@hotmail.com account. It fails to start a game and only shows a prompt to submit a crash report. The issue does not seem related to the client, as I have tried on 5 different PCs and all crash when using my account. However, when I use a different account, the game works normally (yes, I purchased the game a second time on a new account just for testing).
Purchased DLC:
Dawn of the Dukes
Lord of the West
Dynasties of India
Return of Rome
Please fix my account from the server as it is not client related problem, maybe bugged cloud save or something similar.
When I log out of my Xbox account, the game logs in fine, but when I log into Xbox inside the game or before starting the game, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition crashes.
Windows 10, I even tried on PC who run Windows 11 game still crash when login with my Xbox account so it is not related to OS.More look as bugged cloud save or something similar.
After 12 months, my problem still hasn’t been solved. Every time I contact Microsoft with a ticket, they say they are waiting for a reply from the developer. Are the developers doing anything when the problem hasn’t been solved in 12 months?! I paid for a game and all its DLC, so I feel as if I’ve been scammed by Microsoft since they took my money but are not providing support.
P.S.: As a developer with over 15 years of experience, it seems to me that the cloud saves are bugged because it tries to download a cloud save and then crashes.
As it seem to be related to Xbox services I would recommend to check your Xbox account and there specifically your privacy settings (below the three dots…) after signing in at https://account.xbox.com, as the cloud storage comes included with your Microsoft account you can check lack of free space at your MS OneDrive on-line, but I don’t think that’s the issue here. Also check if your MS account is verified and good shape at https://account.mirosoft.com.
Over one year is a long time. You are blessed with your patience in these conditions.
I already contacted Xbox team many time and they connect on my PC and tried play with privaciy settings but it didn’t solve a problem.
But some news are with 113358 hotfix my game finally was again worked after a many months of waiting…………and now with new hotfix 114480 game no longer want to open with my account.
As I read that you only play single player I also wonder if you have a lot of saved games which could easily fill your limited (free) cloud storage part of your Microsoft/Xbox-account?
It could be the reason; I have around 10 saves, so I’m not sure if that’s causing the crash. Sometimes I try logging in 40-50 times, and it succeeds, but when an autosave occurs (after 5 minutes), the game crashes. If anyone from the team can process the removal of all my cloud saves (without affecting the campaign progress), it would be helpful so I can test.
Just 10 saves shouldn’t be an issue, except if you filled up your free MS account storage, which includes OneDrive, with tons of personal data. Some people didn’t even realize that saving documents and importing images automatically ended up being saved in the OneDrive storage.
I just noticed that your 11th gen i9 desktop CPU performance is extreme low, high latencies and low bandwidth there, at least compared to my 9th gen i7 laptop CPU. Below is from my latest startup log. My GPU is a Intel UHD 630 with RTX3000 dedicated GPU.
Are you running Windows through a virtualisation host with Peripheral Interface Controller passthrough?
It is a normal office PC, but I have tried other PCs as well and encountered the same crash problem on all of them. However, a few of my coworkers can play normally with their accounts. Sound as problem is releted to server?
Probably not the server itself, but it complicates troubleshooting a lot.
First if it’s an normal office PC, is it domain joined or not?
Secondly if you sign-in on that office PC with your domain account and try to connect it with your private Microsoft account, are there any domain policies applied that may restrict connection of Microsoft accounts (private or business) and do you have local administrative rights on those office PC’s?
Thirdly are roaming profiles enabled and is your domain profile in a healthy state?
My best guess now is that your issue is related to your login account itself, so you need help from your system administrator, although the extremely poor performance of that 11th gen i9 CPU still baffles me.
