Is there any reason why AOE2DE still doesn’t have native in-built support for voice chat? Multiplayer game quality would improve so much with this feature.
To hard to build it into the old engine?
To hard to censor it? Risking loosing the current age rating.
Really? Do you know for a fact or are you just speculating? Surely no reason something like that couldn’t be added? Even if its like a separate application that launches alongside the main .EXE file. There must be a way around this…
Ah is that really a thing? Do games with voice chat automatically get higher age rating? Genuine question, I have no idea I only play a handful of games.
I don’t know for sure but in some countries having a voice chat will be marked on the Age rating (like violence, gambling and stuff like that).
Some things are very important in some countries and totally don’t matter in others, like in South Korea they had to remove all cigarettes in Stracraft to get the Age rating they wanted.
Microsoft seems to be especially careful with that as you might have noticed in this forum. Even the name of some civilisations and units are censored in here.
Doing live censoring on voice chat is a lot harder.
To the technical aspect, not sure how hard it is but it’s probably about priorities.
People cry when they add anything to the game that they personally don’t need because it takes away development time from what they want.
