New civ concept: The Chimu

Your tier list is like one year old and severely outdated.

Aztecs havent changed in a year.

And Aztecs being below Burgundians, Franks and Vikings is just wrong imo

Only in your opinion it seems.

Nope, Hera did put Franks and Vikings above Aztecs.

And stop being so overly defensive with everything.

Yes. That was like 1 year ago. Just going to ignore the second part.

I think this would be great!

That name sounds cool. Like the vietnamese imperial skirmisher, so it’s fine imo.

Give them +2 carry capacity and it should be a good TB. It will be a good reason to pick Chimu in TGs, while it can boost water-play for japanese, persians and vietnamese.

This could be good for long matches and a good reason to pick Chimu in TGs. It’s not that influential in early game and it’s easier to balance.

Or it can be about fishing traps. Water version of burgundian farms (43 farms generating gold like 1 relic).
43 fishing ships working on fishing traps generate gold equal to 2 or 3 relics, so it’s about the same in practice. Because unlike farms, fishing traps are easy to destroy, exposed and cost 100 wood.

They also can get the bonus “miners don’t need drop-sites” and it will make sense historically.
Idk there are many options.

I had found this theme song a while ago, I think it would also be suitable for a possible Chimu civilization.

this should be added with Wari, Missisipians and Iroquis!

I’ve found some Muchik vocabularies. Technically, the languages of the Chimu Kingdom were Quingam (which we don’t know mostly nothing about except for a few words) and Muchik (the Moche language, that probably have no native-speakers alive, but at least was partially recorded by some academics), and both were referred as Yunga by the Spanish.

El vocabulario estético de los Mochicas [pp. 72-104]

Lengua de Naimlap [pp. 196-204]

They’re both in Spanish, but I leave them there for anyone interested.

Also, I decided to paste here some of the words that would be needed for an AoE2 Civ:
Btw, keep in mind that these are written in different ways, because the Chimu had not writing systems (known).

Ai In -There [Move]
Amexllec - Now [Move/Select]
Ami - Yes [Select]
Likädo - Done [Task]
Mach Copoec Eiñ - I obey, I finish the task [Task]
Tzæich - Yours [Select]
Kontso/ Örkik/ ærquic - Meat [Hunt]
Cog - Animal [Hunt]
Xllac - Fish [Fish]
Xllonkik - Food [Farm]
Uiz / Wachaque - Farm or Chacra [Farm]
Pong - Stone [Mine]
Fac - Gold? [Mine]
Xllaxll - Money [Mine]
An - House [Build]
Chot - Sacred Building or Waka [Build]
Caf Eiñ - To work [Build]
Mucheik - Idol of a god [Monk response]
Ai æpaec - Their Divinity [Monk response]
Mucs Eiñ - To adore [Monk converting]
Llicssek - Belief [Monk converting]
Moix - Soul [Monk converting]
Læmicær/ Limid Eiñ - Death [Attack]

The devs made a “mistake” with the current event. There is a tumi from the chimu culture representing Tacaynamo (known as Naylamp in the Sican/Lambayeque culture) posing as the inti god worshipped by the incas.

This is inti

This is naylamp

you think this was a small spoiler meaning the chimu are coming¨??

hehe
I thought that too, I even thought I saw some other details (like the option to choose the Chimu maceman from AoE 3 as a profile in AoE 2).

If they add more civilizations to AoE 2, I hope they are complementary civilizations that really add value to the game; as fans we can only suggest and support with historical knowledge that apparently is difficult to obtain in other parts of the planet.

Personally I would like a different expansion to the last 2 DLC focused on Europe (which I also considered necessary), but I get the impression that the public of AoE 2 is asking for DLC focused on continents other than European.

I hope it’s not just teasing at least. The only thing which worries me with Chimu is which language they should speak. Mochica is extinct and I don’t know if anybody knows nowadays how it sounded.

I really don’t want them to use the Inca dialogue lines again.

Speaking of which that would be dandy if Inca voicelines could be updated, they are the only civ left using AoE3 voicelines, and after hearing all the new Inca voicelines they made for AoE3DE it’s hard to come back to the minor settlement version 11

Suggestion for the name UU of the Chimu: Alaec

Alaec is the title received by the “lords of the valley”, a title similar to “European feudal lords”, the Alaec had the characteristic of being warriors.

Perhaps these definitions of the Chimu civilization could serve:

As in any society, the Chimú had a very well marked stratigraphy, since their enviable administration, their differentiated constructions, their clothing and headdresses, etc., demonstrate this.

According to some authors there have been 4 classes:

The nobility: formed by the rulers who were warriors or priests who held power.
The artisans and merchants: in charge of production, which included peasants or farmers.
The servants: in charge of domestic chores and were collaborators of all activities.
The slaves: prisoners of war who had saved death.

However, following the descriptions of Calancha, among the Chimú inhabitants the following could be distinguished:

The Ciquic or chief priests general who had absolute command in the town/City/Kingdom/Empire.
The Alaec or curacas, warriors with command in small territories (Lords).
The Fixl or people distinguished for their virtues (knights/gentleman). Courtiers.
The Paraeng or tributaries (vassals): peasants, artisans, fishermen.
The yana or servants in charge of housework.

Nobles could practice polygamy, but common people were only allowed monogamy. A curious case occurred in the region of the Tallanes (Tumbes and Piura) dominated by the Chimú, since polyandry was practiced in their society, that is, a woman could have several husbands due to the shortage of men. Those women were the “capullanas”.

Muchik or Mochica isn’t an extinct language yet. It’s a dead language. There are no native speakers, but there are still people who speak it as a second language.

Quingnam is the extinct one. Archaeologists only know some numbers in that language.
