New DLC Inbound!

Splatoon 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 confirmed…just kidding. Next month will be exciting for gamers.

I suppose the new Byzantine Monastery means that any future Balkan civs will probably just get the Mediterranean architecture set, albeit with that special Monastery. That would be kind of bland, but understandable, as Balkan architecture isn’t significantly different than Byzantine architecture.

Their strategy so far has been dropping a few hints and then just giving content creators access so they can reveal pretty much everything besides the campaign.

Is the PS5 launch supposed to be at the same time as the DLC release?

Yes it is, DLC drops with the PS5 version, both should be in less than a month from now.

I personally would like you Bulgarians, and maybe the Goths, to be like Byzantines today: Mediterranean architecture and the Byzantine church.

Give them Balkan/Byzantine architecture plus Armenians/Georgians. I model by Catbarf exists!

I love Catbarf’s work but a new one is still a lot of work

Gopefully we get new architecture tho

If they can make 2 new architecture sets (plus new Dark Age buildings) for Chronicles why shouldn’t they be able to do the same for the main game too?

From what I understood, ps5 support is coming with the next update. DLC is probably coming with the update, but we’re not sure.

Devs, make the new Pagan Priest the monk for the Lithuanians

This can be modded in easily.

Then the monastery will also have to change to Pagan Shrine.

Honestly I think the Lithuanians should use the Pagan Shrine as their monastery. Sure they adopted Catholicism eventually, but the time frame they were built around in-game (and the reason they are flavorful, unique, and relevant) was their late pagan period.

They have paladins and winged hussars, clearly they are the polish lithuanian commonwealth not pagan balts.

Persians are also tricky. Their unique units are primarily Sassanid, their probable future Castle features the Sassanid emblem, and their history text concludes with the Muslim conquest (correct me if it has been expanded), while their campaign is set in the 16th century.
Still, I’d like to see Sassanid-era Priests and Fire Temples as Scenario Editor additions, at least.

Or the pagan shrine will be able to train pagan priest.

BoF buildings and units dont fit this?

That campaign probably should have been for a Turkoman civ (especially considering how prominently the Qizilbash are featured there), while the Persians themselved should have had a campaign set in Sasanian times.

I think the Leitis is more from the Grand Duchy, but yes, their civ doesn’t have any pagan elements, despite it being an important part of their campaign

The Achaemenid Temple might be suitable, though I don’t know how much it would differ in appearance in Sassanid times, if at all.
The only religious unit in Chronicles is the Priestess. Were there female Zoroastrian priests at the time?

Persians should have been split honestly. Sassanids are a late antiquity civ and safavids are from the early modern era and like it or not aoe2 covers both periods. But I know that most people are against these kinds of split so they could at least come up with a mechanic, scenario triggers or some way to differentiate different eras in the same civ although then campaigns would be less good at depicting a civ overall. But then again was it any good to play Ismail with savaran and elephants?
