Very good trailer (see [my analysis here](https://forums.ageofempires.com/t/analisys-of-the-trailers/289117))

**Regional units.** Good they didn’t forgot to ad the varangian guard to the byzantine ! They have a glow affect on the trailer and the screenshoot, not the one of an hero unit, some of them haven’t the glow effect, maybe it’s an aura effect from an hero or near a castle.

Good also to give mounted crosbowmen for most european civilization (not the ancient one please : Goths, Romans, Vandals and not the eastern European one please : Poles, Lithuanian, Magyars, Bulgarian, Slavs, Cumans, Huns). Also I hope they replace the canon galleon for the viking to the catapult galleon.
Maybe in the future they can ad the hirdman as a regional replacement for the spearline for the three nordic civilizations ?

Now we can speculate how unbalanced will be the mounted crossbowmen, I think he will be less unbalanced than the champi warrior because it’s only two upgrade in the two late age.

The **civilization’s emblems** are good, the varangians represent clearly the swede with the same color of the flag. The Saxons have a nice shield with the anglo-saxon dragon, (I hope they get the Sutton Hoo helmet for the user interface). The danes will get a shield with a dragon, good.

We see more of the architectural set. Nice grass roof on the stone wall and the mining camp. We see lumber camp and mining camp, so the longhouse doesn’t act as a drop off point. We can speculate of the use of longhouse (except the obvious increasing of the population space). I see some weapons and armor on the longhouse, maybe she act as a training building for some unit ?

Yes. At start I find a little surprised that they get the **longboat** but after I remember than they build ship similar to the longboat with clinker construction. The saxon’s ship were longboat without mast. After this I checked on Wikipedia and I find saxon’s ships : the [Snape boat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snape_Anglo-Saxon_Cemetery#The_Ship_Burial) and the [Sutton Hoo ship](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutton_Hoo#Burial_ship_(Sutton_Hoo_ship)) (the same archeological site who give us the beautiful Sutton Hoo helmet). Like the vikings the saxons sometime made ship burial. The only bad thing is that they didn’t made a feudal age version.

For the **varangian guard** it make sense also because it’s not the unit themself who were in use but the weapon, the [Danes axe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dane_axe) a two hande axe used by the viking and also the Saxon. Because of this in the Migration periods DLC topic I suggested to make the huskarl a regional unit with a charged attack for the saxon one to represent the real saxon’s huskarl who use this type of axe. Also saxon’s huskarl are usually depicted with two handed axe, the first time in the Bayeux tapestry.
