Competitive play not feasible on XL maps?

Many AOE-2 players complain about “the small maps.” (For me they are fine because it is the standard way in which AOE-3 players play and do not stop us neither small nor big). The point is that maybe doing competitive on XL maps can attract AOE-2 players, making it a separate game mode in the ranked one. I personally like to vary some times and the games are not a lightning war every time.
