Hopefully September 30 (25th birthday of AoE2) will be the day of big surprise.
According to Google, September 27th (which is my own birthday) was the day that AoE2 came out. It may be different according to region.
That’s odd. I’ve searched it before with different results. Wikipedia says the 27th, but it could simply be wrong:

Edit: The Age of Empires Wiki says the 30th. Perhaps Wikipedia is just wrong.
Oh that’s even better! Only one more fortnight to endure.
IMDb says the 30th too. There seem to be more sources for that date than the 27th.
I think that the anniversary date is most likely for a reveal at this point.
Still a bit too close to AoM’s release for other stuff to get the spotlight right now. Plus it’s so close at this point that they might as well hang on.
which anniversary? AoK or DE?
Oh I thought it was the same day.
Honestly, if they are right next to each other, it could be either tbh.
AoK anniversary is September 27th or 30th of 1999. There are conflicting sources.
DE anniversary is November 14th.
AH! Gotcha. I misconstrued the dates.
I think the former tbh. November is far too far away now that the hidden achievement has popped up. There’s only so much chat that can be had on very limited information before any interest dissipates. Remember RoR?
We’ll know soon enough. with exception of RoR, previous DLCs were announced about two weeks before release. If DLC 5 isn’t announced within about a week, it won’t be released late september. I just can’t see a big anniversary DLC being announced with LESS time before release to hype it up.
Then you’re going into rbw and age of mobile release on october 17th.
That means the earliest you can announce something is end of october, which would line up with DE anniversary release.
So yeah, we’ll either hear something very soon, or November becomes most likely imo.
Good points. The release window the the end of the year is very narrow. It basically has to be September 25th-27th(?) or November.
Because go into December and ironically it runs into AoM’s DLC…China.
I don’t follow AoM closely, so maybe i’m just missing it, but where is it said that the china dlc will be released in december. I know the NEXT dlc is china, basically a redo of the Tale of the Dragon, and that there is another dlc planned beyond that, but I’m not able to find anywhere that affirmatively says the china dlc is planned for a december release.
I’m not 100% sure. But AoM players seem certain in the knowledge that it’s going to be released then.
AOM RE roadmap stated this year the Chinese DLC will come for RE, AOE 3 DE will also receive the Polish/Danish civs expansion. AOE 4 potentially will get another major contnt as well.
If this goes as is I think AOE 2 DE will be left behind to 2025.
It’s not necessarily december, but if you bought the premium version of the game it came with the first 2 DLCs preordered, and they said the first one, which was confirmed as the China dlc, would be released in 2024. I guess people are assuming it’ll take long enough that it’ll be december before its out, but i’m not aware of that being set in stone anywhere.
It would be surprising if they didn’t notice the backlash
MobyGames (essentially the imdb for games) says 27th.
they also notice the $$$ regardless of the backlash too
